Hi everyone,
I'm trying to keep the rules to a minimum, but as with anything new, I have missed a couple out by mistake.
The 2 I've added are at the bottom of the rules page in RED type, and concern inactivity and Race Prize Money.
Nothing too important, but just wanted to make you aware that these have been added due to players questions sent to me via email.
I've also been playing about with the web page, and have managed to crack my first animated banner - doesn't look half bad either!!...lol

Apologies to everyone, I forgot to type in the rule that Colts have 1½ lengths over the fillies due to early strength differences in their 2 and 3yo campaigns.
With only 2 open races in week 1, this won't make much difference to the outcomes.
I was sure I'd written this rule in, but seem to have missed it out.
It has now been added on the Rules Page.

NEW IMPORTANT RULE UPDATE !!!
I have decided that it would be best if players CAN train their horses further than than 120 (going and distance) and 100 (behaviourable).
HOWEVER, if you train above these numbers, you will only gain between 1 and 5 points per week.
The reason I have added this rule, is that the 1m 4f and 1m 6f horses could potentially all hit the 120/100 marks before they even run!!
Any Q's, fire away.

Can you clarify something for me. The rules say can only train up until 3yo, to go further needs ageing trained (40 pts for 4yo, 60 for 5yo+). If it has enough ageing points to go on to a 4yo career, can it still be trained as a 4yo (especially ageing).

You can only train upto the end of their 3yo season.
The ageing is needed to RUN in the subsequent seasons.
40pts ageing to run as a 4yo and 60pts training to run as a 5yo.
You have the remainder of the season to get the ageing up to 40pts/60pts depending on whether you want to retire the horse, run as a 4yo or run as a 4 & 5yo.

If a horse is retired on reaching 4yo (due to insufficient ageing stats) it will not be available for breeding. So you really need to train your 'superstars' in ageing if you want them to produce progeny.
The main reason behind this is to avoid people training everything to the MAX and simply dominate the Sim for the lifetime of the horse and then breed another one!
Training the ageing stat effectively means that only one performance stat is trained during that week, giving people the choice to try to improve that unruly youngster and get it winning some races, or slowly build up the youngster's stats to Group level where it will be able to race for 2 or 3 years.
Horses with ageing trained, will still lose some of their talents, but slowly over time, and trainers will have to monitor them and decide when the horse should 'retire to stud'. You can train ageing beyond the 60 for 5yos - this will slow the rate of deterioration for those who want to run their horses as long as possible. All horses end their career at the age of 6, regardless of the ageing stat.
All this is subject to confirmation by Mark!

Can you explain this ageing thing again. I saw things about jumping being introduced. Some of mine i had no plans to age much but if I want them to go on to the jumping sim do i have to age these. I will need to start ageing soon to get enough points and I don't want to leave it too late.
does it mean we have to choose whether a horse just leaves the game due to insufficient ageing, retire to stud or go jumping. I assume that superstar stud horses would not go jumping or is that possible?
In season 3 when 3 and 4 yo race with each other will the 4yo be at a disadvantage because season 1 was only ten weeks long. Season 2 is longer so the present 2yo would have had more training weeks as a 2yo.

Jumping is quite a long way off yet.....if and when it is introduced there will be new attributes that take care of this, and ageing will be looked into.
Ageing - 40 pts enables the horse to run as a 4yo, 60 pts enables it to run at 5yo.
If you have 60 pts, your stats will NOT alter during the 4yo season.
If you have 40 pts, your stats will decrease very slowly throughout the 4yo season.
If you have 60 pts, your stats will start to decrease during it's 5yo season.
The decreasing stats will be 2 stats random each week, 1-5 points decrease
This is subject to change when jumping is brought into the game, but this is still some way off yet, as I want to see what admin impact the Breeding plans will have.
Insufficient ageing will mean the horse is retired from the game, to take part in the breeding, the horse MUST be a runner at 4 or 5.
Basically you will breed from your current stock of horses....I will write full breeding rules shortly, and post them here and on the rules page.
Point 3 is a good valid point, and one that I'll have a think about...I'll probably go down the additional weight route to make it fairer.

One more thing....if your horse has 40 ageing points, when it retires at the end of it's 4yo season it WILL be available for breeding and moved to a 'stud' area.....only horses that have not got the required 40 pts at the end of the 3yo season will be retired and unable to breed.
