Week 2 - Group 3 Previews
This weekend see's the first Group Races held at Win2Win Downs for the stables of the racing Sim. These races are worth £1000 and will be the first major guide to the potential of the Sim Sprinters. Some big names have turned up for these early season prizes, and 3 exciting races look on the cards.
Race 3 - The April Sprint - Group 3
Only 4 horses go to post for the very first Group 3 here at Win2Win Downs, and it looks very much to be a 2 horse race, with the ground conditions on the day likely to play a major factor in the result.
Pavlov Dream was a nice 3rd in his pipe opener in week 1, didn't get any luck in running, and must go close this weekend if transferring his gallops form to the track. His behaviour attributes are very consistent, and along with the valuable expereince gained in the Day One Listed Stakes he should prove very difficult to oppose if the ground comes up soft on the day.
Lusitania from the WBF yard had some light excercise last week and looks primed for a good run if the ground is good on the day.She looks good in her coat, however has to give away 1½ lengths to the colts, and the lack of racecourse experience may prove too much to handle unless she's a filly with a big future. Saturday should open the door and tell us exactly what to expect from this filly. Possibly a nice placing by the stable, and one that should give away many clues, either good or bad.
Fearless Fred takes his chance for the PPP barn, but this looks tough for his first visit to the track, and I can't see him chellenging the front 2 unless there's any mishaps leaving the stalls, or any signs of greeness.
Itsthewayyouusedit is the final member of the quartet, being sent here with guaranteed prize money for the TRT stable. She looks to be a filly with plenty of ability, however the 5f trip here may be a bit on the sharp side, and if the ground comes up on the soft side of good she'll struggle in this company. Could well spring a surpise if the ground is good, however I feel that this filly will be more of a threat over further, and with not gaining any experience over this short trip the stable must be using this race to gauge the potential of her for the future.
Race 8 - The Coventry Stakes - Group 3
All eyes will be on the heavy favourite Reverend Johnson!! His emphatic maiden victory for SOF in week 1 by more than 11 lengths was one of the performances of the day, and the experience gained could be vital in picking up this prize. The early market has The Rev at a very skinny 1/3, but will his reputation stay intact now he's stepping up in class?
Second in the market is Cock Au Vin from the yard of GGS, a last minute entry on Wednesday evening. She was let down badly by her temperament last week, and the forecast odds of 9/4 looked very short unless she can run a very good race on the day.
One that interests me at 5/1 is the FFF trained colt Pewter Jug. I feel this lovely looking colt could be the main danger to the odds on favourite. Pewter should be the first to leave the stalls, having a lot of early speed. His attitude is second to none in this race, and it's only the unknown about his potential and lack of experience that is putting me off. He could be anything, but if putting in a decent run this weekend could go on to bigger things in the future.
Den's Joy looks to be a filly with lots going for her, and if getting the desired good ground could be a major player in this race. The PPP stable must be hoping for a nice performance on which they can build for the future, as she could be a good stayer in the future if all go's to plan. With a top jock on board, she could hit the board and maybe get her head in front.
Others that look interesting are Blackjack Magic, Bad, and The White Stripe. The latter didn't get his ground last week, and so tries his luck again, praying for good ground. SSS are hopeful that this colt can turn in a good performance as he has some nice figures against his name on which to build. Holds every chance if putting in his best.
Blackjack Magic and Bad must have it soft to be in with a chance, with the former looking an exciting all distance prospect, but with a little work could be aimed at one single distance as his career progresses.
It's hard to make a case for the others, who are surely out to gain experience, with the exception of Cheese and Biscuits who won't gain any experience points and would be odds on to finish at the back of this Group 3 field.
Race 9 - Fillies Sprint - Group 3
Flying Foxtrot from the WBF stable came up against a good thing last week when finishing second, and is looking to build on that run this week when she surely won't be as green. This multi purpose filly looks a very bright prospect, however this week won't be any easier than last, with some VERY tough opposition.
Perfect Model puts her unbeaten start on the line, and I'm surprised that she isn't favourite here this weekend. She should like the ground unless the rain comes in between the sunny spells and turns it Good/Soft on the day, She ran out a confortable winner last week, and with the comments of 'More to come', she looks to be very difficult to oppose, and I wouldn't be surprised if she made it 2 out of 2 this weekend.
Ceylon Sapphire looks a very interesting sort, skipping week 1 to concentrate on final preperations for what looks like a very promising sprint career. She shines on the gallops, but all will be out in the open this weekend as she takes on some big guns for this prize. 9/2 looks very big.
Finney's Filly looks moderate, but maybe there's an engine in her that we don't know about?! Her figures suggest nothing special, and 7/2 looks too short for me to play.
Bad Girl will struggle to get her ground, but is a model of consistency, and could be one to watch. Shrimp Paste looks a lively contender for the places, the ground looks an issue here. Whislt Ruth Rendell looks simply outclassed in this company on her first visit to the track.
It looks sure to be a good weeks racing this week, with a lot of questions being answered, and a few big reputations being put on the line.
Good luck to all competing stables, and I hope I've given you some help with your Pick 6 and Betting for this weekend.
Mark.

PIGGIES SCARBOROUGH STARS
We have 5 running this week.
Race 1 we have SCARBOROUGH FLYER ran well last week and we think we have a star in the making, given another run for more experience but it would be no surprise if he wins, he will then be put away for bigger and better things.
Race 2 see’s the first appearance of SALBY SCORCHER to be honest she’s only running for racecourse experience and not one we have high hopes for.
Race 4 BACON ROLE makes his debut we are not expecting much today but long term this could be one to watch out for.
Race 5 we expect CRACKLING to run a good race a lovely colt with a big future ahead of him.
Race 8 will see the debut of BARROWCLIFFE BRUISER an aptly named colt as tough as they come, trip not ideal but if he gets soft ground watch out, he is definitely a star of the future

Whispering Downs has only one runner this week and Whisperski will need everything to fall just right for her to make any sort of impression on the race. The early odds of 4/1 look quite short for this maiden and the early money must be from the 'bandwagon' brigade trying to cash in on last week's successes. She will relish the trip, but the first sign of a cloud in the sky will have her back in the barn, sulking!
All our other horses are being prepared for specific races including the as yet unraced Giveusanar who is unlikely to see the track before the last week of the season (if at all).
Early Promise will likely run in the May fillies Group 3 on her way to the Seabiscuit before being put away for the season to concentrate on her 3yo classics career.
In an attempt to get the best out of Getoffandpush, we have acquired the services of a top horse psycologist who reports that some strong handling will be needed to avaoid this one living up to his name!

After a disappointing start for Funs Filly Farm, the knacker man has been put on hold until after this weeks races.
Both Group 3 entries will be well supported in the betting ring by connections despite the heavy blow of Shiny Silver failing last week (due to unexpected freak weather conditions).
Pewter Jug has a fantastic temperament and providing there is a bit of give in the ground is expected to get the better of Rev Johnson at a fancy (we think) price.
Ceylon Sapphire has the potential to be the jewel in the crown of the stable. Popular at home, will achieve immortality if race results come anywhere near our expectations.
Our other runner this week, Pure Gold, will be watched carefully by the training staff. A bit of an enigma, despite speed and stamina we have yet to find going that he likes. A fussy sort, we think he may be best on softer ground. Hopefully the services of one of our top jockeys can help us discover the key to this one.
The trainers will be busy again this week with our other 2 big hopes, Sword of Steel and Ruby Tuesday. There is a lot of work to be done with the former to get him ready and no chances will be taken by producing him too soon. The latter we hope will take the staying distances by storm as the season progresses.

Samanthas Stars Stables has 4 horses running this week.
Race 4 sees Waltzing Matilda having her first race.
She is a lovely filly with a bad attitude who relishes Firm or good ground and a mile is her favourite distance. We are hoping to see her do very well in this race.
Race 5 sees Captain Crash having a go.
He loves soft ground so we are hoping to get that on the day. A mile is not his favourite distance at all he much prefers further but this adds to his stamina and is a decent race to get him started.
Race 8 sees Bad lining up.
Named due to his temper but with a good attitude and great consistency.
He needs soft ground, and is a sprinter. The jockey is a concern for us.
Race 11 sees Gloria taking to the field.
She adores heavy ground and a mile is the only distance for her.
She is a beautiful looking filly with a good temperament, attitude and consitency and we are looking for a win today.

Here at the BCD Rockdude stables, we are looking to give more of our new 2yo's a try out this week.
Hopes are fairly high for our first runner Lemmy a Fiver who seems to have a great turn of speed, no doubt due to the influence of his sire's genes! Possible problems may be the going and a young jockey on board, but hopefully his turn of foot will see him come out on top in the first race of the day.
Race 4 sees another decent filly up against some tough opposition in the Mile maiden for fillies only, but we're hopeful that her good temperament and a fine jockey should see Screaming Banshee in the places at least.
race 5 sees Mac The Knife in the colts only mile maiden. Definitely an outside chance if conditions suit and the present weather continues, this colt has a top attitude to his work, so high hopes for later in the season.
In the last race we have Cygnus, again probably not a winner in this one but showing great promise at home - one to watch in the future, but needs heavy ground to show his best

Excellent write ups 'Simmers'.......it's really pleasing to see that you are all taking the game a) in it's spirit, and b) to heart.
I'm sure that by the end of the season some will be frustrated, some will be overjoyed, and some will just be more determined than ever to push for those big 3yo Group 1's.
Good luck for the weekend, and hopefully most of you will get placed horses at least !

here at the BBF stables we have two runners this week, in fuller class and big george, and have high hopes for both races.
race 4 - Mile Maiden fillies
FULLER CLASS - is our entry for this race, we have high hopes for this one who loves the firm ground, and the 1m distance. favourite in the betting market @ 7/4 we hope she brings the BBF our first winner.
race 5 - Mile Maiden Colts
BIG GEORGE - is our other entry for the day, will love the going - in fact anything from good to heavy, and the mile distance is it's preferred trip, again another BBF horse is the market fav @ 2/1.

Readem and Weep news letter
Hi racing fans
After last weeks hugely dissapointing effort, we have sacked the previous trainer and brought on board the specialist Phil McCraken ably supported by his assistant Ben Dover.
We have decided to unleash the "BIG GUNS" later in the season, and have worked out a careful plan for all of them.
This week AJNAC goes again (Race 5). His last run was dissapointing but he is at his perfect running distance of a mile and he has the credentials to take this type of race. He will also be a strip fitter for his last outing and the experience could make all the difference. We fancy the threat to be Big George.
Our next runner BLACKJACK MAGIC goes in the Group 3 Coventry stakes. She may be a little out of her depth and the trip may be a little on the short side. This really is just a run for her but fancy could get into the minor money. We'll be keeping her back for later in the season.
The final runner DANCING QUEEN has been tossed into the Good Friday Maiden. She will finish last, but at least she will take some of the prize money since there are only 3 runners. For her to win the weak jockey on Lost in Leeds will need to drop the whip, and Mongo will need to get stuck in the stalls.
Our best runners are still to come....beware.... Ooo

AlianzaLimas stable of fun
There will be six runners this week from this stable and at least three will return with some money having found races with four or less runners.
First off there is the debut of Waco Kid in race 1. Up against a couple of good horses but could get a place as there are only six runners. Race 2 sees the debut of Im Tired with a place guaranteed we will see what happens. Race 3 sees the second run for Lili Von Schtupp who was not exactly good on her debut and has found a race with loads of runners. Race 6 sees another run for Frontier Gibberish and with only 4 runners in this race has every chance. race 8 sees the stable star of the first week Reverend Johnson going for a Group race. This will find out if he really is a star or whether last weeks 11 length victory was a fluke .Another debut in race 10 sees Mongo take on just two others and again will give us clues as to where to go next with this filly.
