Week 4 gave us the first Group 2 event here at Win2Win Downs. 6 horses went to post, and the big guns were on show for this prestigious prize.
The winner was Flying Foxtrot for the WBF stable, putting up a very good performance, holding on gamely from Caylon Sapphire who surely has more to come, and looks a main contender for next seasons classics if the training regime is sopt on. Back in 3rd place was Perfect Model who lost her Unbeaten tag in this race, but this 3rd place was better than it seems. The lovely filly Lusitania came home 4th in conditions far from ideal, keep an eye on this one!! The fillies ruled in this race, all 4 coming home in front of the 2 colts. Sheriff Bart came home 5th and looks to have a great future once a training plan has been put in place.....Robert Pires was a non entity once the ground was declared.
On other races today, Rock Of Ages won the Group 3 Vintage Stakes for the NRU yard, out staying the very nice colt Shiny Silver, with Retro Rocker back in 3rd.
Performance of the day ? Carrantouhill in the 5f Open Maiden, easily disposed of the field by 10 lengths, and looks to be top class material for the future.
Big George should also step up after his listed win for BBF, he was the best in the field, and proved it by coming home 2 lengths in front of the best of the rest.
Next week see's our first GROUP 1 race......keep your eyes peeled for new and previews.
