Week 4 gave us the first Group 2 event here at Win2Win Downs. 6 horses went to post, and the big guns were on show for this prestigious prize.

The winner was Flying Foxtrot for the WBF stable, putting up a very good performance, holding on gamely from Caylon Sapphire who surely has more to come, and looks a main contender for next seasons classics if the training regime is sopt on. Back in 3rd place was Perfect Model who lost her Unbeaten tag in this race, but this 3rd place was better than it seems. The lovely filly Lusitania came home 4th in conditions far from ideal, keep an eye on this one!! The fillies ruled in this race, all 4 coming home in front of the 2 colts. Sheriff Bart came home 5th and looks to have a great future once a training plan has been put in place.....Robert Pires was a non entity once the ground was declared.

On other races today, Rock Of Ages won the Group 3 Vintage Stakes for the NRU yard, out staying the very nice colt Shiny Silver, with Retro Rocker back in 3rd.

Performance of the day ? Carrantouhill in the 5f Open Maiden, easily disposed of the field by 10 lengths, and looks to be top class material for the future.

Big George should also step up after his listed win for BBF, he was the best in the field, and proved it by coming home 2 lengths in front of the best of the rest.

Next week see's our first GROUP 1 race......keep your eyes peeled for new and previews.

Mark.

Here at Sams stars stables there has been chaos.
This all started on course, just before the races started I got called away because Party Girl was being difficult.
I asked a stable lass to keep in touch with everyone for me,and report back to me how the races were going. She has been with us a while and although she doesnt speak much English she has done well.
Apparently she spent most of the time in the bar, buying drinks for everyone on my account.
I found her after the racing slumped in a corner snoring loudly totally intoxicated.
She has now been fired.
On the way to the start of race 3 Party Girl spotted Pickwick Plonker.Well that was that, she got all giddy.
After the race she was determind to make him notice her, but unfortunately he only had eyes for Grindleton Goblin whom party girl tried to bite.
It was time for race 7 before we got her settled she was in a real strop.
Breakout did his best and we were very pleased with him.
Onto Race 8 - what happened. Gloria was the best there no doubt and she should have won. There have been allegations made that the jockey threw the race so I now have all that to sort out.

Yet more controversy at Funs Filly Farm as head trainer Earnest "carrot but mainly stick" Farqhar-Smythe has gone missing.

In an apparently unrelated incident, police were called to the yard as gunshots were heard. After a thorough investigation of Onlyforfuns premises, including the now infamous "nieces" bedrooms, Detective Inspector Shergar III said "after a thorough investigation, any rumours of foul play are greatly exaggerated, the only thing of note is the new flower bed measuring approximately 7 feet by 2.5 feet in the main paddock which will be lovely in the spring!"

YLN's head trainer and his staff toasted this weeks performance with champagne. One first place and two seconds has secured the jobs of Jimmy Johnson and his band of merry men. They were under the threat of the sack and got the horses to perform as they have been expected to do all season. The YLN stable is hoping the corner has been turned and that performances will not revert to those of the opening three weeks of the season.

after the disgusting display by party girl all my colts got overexcited , especially my plonker, and it has taken ages to quieten them down[threats of being gelded finally did the trick] needless to say none of the colts will run this week. flyer ran well but found one to good for him, plonker needs it softer[ in more ways than one] and crackling won easily and has come back well for his run.
