It is with heavy hearts that the Winners By Far stable announce that their Group 2 winner Flying Foxtrot will not be contesting this week's Group 1 event. The trainers feel the ground is not right for the young filly so they will be training her up instead. She will be allowed, if not encouraged, to watch the event in order to see what she will be up against in the future. We also feel that she has earned a rest after her Group 2 exertions. Needless to say everyone at the yard is very proud of her and we have huge hopes for her future racing career.
Foxtrot's stablemate and fellow Group 2 runner last week, Lusitania, gets no such rest. She is eager to go again and that's what she will do as she is entered in the Group 2 June Sprint event. We are pleased with the progress this horse has made and feel she has a great chance of making the frame this time if the ground stays right.
Also racing this week are Buck The Trend and The Mariner. Bucky makes his third start of the season in the 1m listed event (race 8). With a win last time out we are quietly confident of a good race from this young colt. The Mariner makes only his second start of the season, running in race 7, the 7f maiden. His lack of experience showed in his debut race so we are hoping that his rider can steer him to victory this time out.
The newcomer Liberty was set to make his debut this week but is being saved until he has settled into the yard a bit better. He had his first workouts last week and he looks full of promise. There are big things to come from this little fella, I can tell you.

Yerots' Losing Nags have only the two runners this coming week. Head trainer Jimmy Johnson has high hopes for some of the longer distance specializing horses. These horses are currently being groomed in training for the longer distance races, which have been added to the calendar over the past few weeks.
This weeks runners are both looking to follow up on good runs last time out. The filly Downpour is running in the sixth over one mile. Downpour just managed to outstay Gloria last week and connections are confident of another good run this week, so long as the ground is on the heavy side.
The second runner this week is Don't cross the boss in the 7f maiden, the seventh. Don't cross the boss was defeated only by the ground last time out and connections are looking for the ground to be on the soft side side for Don't cross the boss to have a chance.

PSS [restrictions allowing, see stable news and gossip] will only have one running this week as all the colts have been playing up and the other four fillies are in training for future events, this leaves CASTLE CHOP who will take her chance in race 6 a 1m listed for fillies and if the going is soft should romp home.

Sams Stars Stables has just two entries this week.
Race 3 sees Captain Crash having another go.
It is not his favourite type of race at all, but we are trying to give him and his jockey some experience before we throw him in with the big boys and he is such a tryer we may just grab a place.
Race 4 and one of our star fillies is out again.
Waltzing Matilda takes the stage here, and we are expecting a win from her.

Excitement is building here at Funs Filly Farm, and not just in the trouser department, at the prospect of the Group 1 rematch between Pewter Jug and Reverend Johnson.
"The Jug" is expected to rid himself of the turbulent priest after a close battle lto where a large wedge by the stable owner was placed to lay as reported in the scandal sheets.
The rest are only there for the 3rd place money.
Speaking through a medium, re-instated trainer Earnest "worm food" Farqhar-Smythe also recommends keeping a close eye on the filliy Queen of Diamonds in the listed 1m Stakes (Race 6).

Week 5 see's the very first Group 1 event here at Win2Win Downs.
The Seasbiscuit Stakes - 6f - £4000
The clerk of the course has hinted that the ground will be dependant on whether the current light rain showers get any heavier.
This Group 1 race has brought the Big Guns out to play, and few would bet on the outcome of this race which is expected to be very tight indeed.
Where would I put my money I hear you ask ?......well I have absolutely no idea at present, and an Ante Post bet before knowing the going for this race is dicing with death.
The unbeaten Reverend Johnson is back in action after his 2 early victories, but we'll see this weekend whether he really has the guts to step up in class and prove to be a very good individual indeed. Looking at the bare faced stats of the field, he isn't the quickest out of the gate, but that winning experience should hold him in good stead for this feature race of the day.
The unlucky Pewter Jug steps onto the track again after some well thought out training by the owners, and if the going stays on the good side he will be hard to oppose. On the other hand, if the going is soft, Ripped Pocket looks to have some lovely consistent behaviour figures, and could put the top 2 in the market under severe pressure.
The NRU stable bring out Eire Express for a crack at the G1, this horse looks to be decent, however the ground will hold the key.
I've been hearing some positive rumours about the chances of Blackjack Magic. This horse has been shipped over from South Africa for the race, and looks to be in tip top condition after a spell of fine tuning on the gallops, oppose her at your peril, however taking on the colts may be difficult this week......or will it?
Dingle Donkey has been touted as top class, but he might have his work cut out aginst this field. If the ground turns soft, and his temperament problems don't resurface on Sunday he is in with a great shout.
Black Knight is an interesting debutant, lightning out of the stalls, and reportedly the most consistent of the field, he could be up against it when the ground is announced, but it's brave of the BCD stable to unleash him in a Group 1 on his debut.
The final horse to take to the track will be Mochlochovic, surely the outsider of the field, but the owners are looking forward to a day at the races with a Group 1 runner, and if the horse shows anything on it's debut then it will be huge bonus.
Winning this race could well take the victorious stable to the top of the money table, a cracking race to look forward to, and bragging rights to the first person to win a Group 1 race here at Win2Win Downs.
My opinion is that it'll be any one of 4 or 5 winning this race....very very difficult to call, and not one I'll be betting on.

Week 5 brought mixed feelings at Whispering Downs. The expected rains arrived and the decision was made to let Early Promise take her chances in the Group 2 event rather than risk running her in the mud. I think she will take the lesser event and will go on to great things.
Our only other entrant is Beach Comber who ran a respectable race last week and will have come on for the run. We are hoping he can break his maiden in the 7f maiden against some decent opposition.
Good Luck to all participants this week.

Readem and Weep stable
4 runners out this week.
In the first we have 'Blackjack Magic'. Generous odds of 6/1 available on her and I would advise a strong eachway bet on her. She has the best temperament of the field, the 3rd best Jockey, goes best in the field on soft going, and has been trained for a mile. She needed the run last time out.
Race 3 sees 'The West Awake' out again. Jack the lad appears to be the only real threat, and a question mark is raised against his temperament.
'Salma' has been thrown in at race 4 in an effort to try and get another foal for the stable. The only hope for this one is if the champion jockey can make the thing fly like the wind. Keep your money in your pocket for this one.
Race 8 sees 'Ajnac' out again. Listed antepost as the favourite, but I don't think he has the ability to win this one.
Didn't want to enter any races this week, but couldn't resist it. :yikes:
