(17:21:28) Oldham: Hi Paul
(17:21:36) Big Brother: Workshy has joined. Welcome!
(17:21:41) Workshy: Hi All
(17:22:07) Oldham: Hi Workshy
(17:22:36) markwales: Just to let everybody know...when you see the race results for today, there is an extra column entitled, 'Race Rating'.....this column will a) give you a guide to how your horse ran, and b) give you an insight into it's quality.......remember that even if it gets a low-ish 'race rating', it may have simply ran a stinker
(17:23:13) markwales: You should see that Group race entrants get higher race ratings, as in real life
(17:23:29) markwales: but ALL races are judged on the same criteria
(17:24:18) markwales: so if a maiden race winner get's a huge race rating, then it'll be a guide that it should step up into group class etc.
(17:25:54) yerotsluap: sounds like a good idea mark helps those of us who still struggle with the ability of their horses
(17:26:46) markwales: The ratings will also be used later on in season 2 for handicapping races. This has yet to be finalised.
(17:27:07) markwales: Plus it's an extra tool in the bookies armoury !!
(17:27:38) Big Brother: alianzalima has joined. Welcome!
(17:27:42) Oldham: ...and we certainly need all the help we can get! LOL
(17:28:18) markwales: The race ratings will be very similar to the handicapping system in the UK, and also 'Beyer' figures in the US
(17:28:30) Oldham: Would the rating be open to abuse by deliberately running over the wrong trip/ground etc?
(17:28:32) Workshy: Are they going down, I cant see with massive crowd at the downs
(17:28:38) markwales: Potentially yes
(17:28:50) markwales: The handicap coup !!
(17:28:59) Workshy: "the sting!"
(17:29:22) markwales: but would you waste 3 runs of a horse?...my idea was to use an average last 3 runs as a handicap figure
(17:29:39) Oldham: but then again, the horse may not be as good as they thought when in the right race!
(17:29:45) markwales: exactly
(17:30:21) markwales: We'll run through the races in racecard order today, finishing with the hotly contested Group 1 Fillies Mile
(17:30:37) Oldham: hmm - maybe the highest of the last 3 may be better?
(17:31:09) markwales: maybe, there's still a lot to work out with them....this week is only the first week, so we'll take a look at the end of the season and see how they look
(17:31:57) Oldham: betting and Pick 6 now closed
(17:32:10) markwales: A small crowd gathered here today, the number of runners could have a lot to do with it, but none the less competetive
