The WBJ Stable Report

Week 9 see’s the Workshy Bank Job’s stable send 4 runners to the Win2Win Downs.

Workshy is turning out impressive debutant Picksixtrix in the Group 1 Open Mile immediately as he feels the horse is fit, has a good chance of a place in the race and would ideally like to get the filly in the “Fillies Mile Championship” standings.

Featuring in the same race and rated as having only a slim place chance is colt Zero Chance. Workshy is running the colt miler in the hope it may, if on top form, snatch a place and confirm its place in the “Colts Mile Championship” standings. Be advised, this run is in hope more than confidence. It is thought the colt ran out of his skin to finish 2nd in the Group 3 Futurity Stakes in week 7.

A more inspiring declaration is sprint filly Shock Horror who will be pushed hard to perform in the Group 3 Thomas Stakes. Workshy feels the filly is of a good nature and has been pleased with its 2 listed runs to date, 1 win and a 3rd place. It is hoped that with the soft/heavy going that Shock Horror will perform well enough to get a place and improve her position in the “Fillies Sprint Championship”.

The final runner from Workshy’s stable is French bred, colt debutant Dans La Maison. This horse was a late foal and has needed some TLC throughout this season. It is going purely for the run after intensive training and Workshy is hoping for good going as so he can gauge this horses ability on the racecourse.

On a more general note, Workshy is pleased to have won another free foal and is already impressed with the work the Spanish bred filly, Muchacha Rápida has been doing on the gallops. Should the filly continue to work well, it is thought she will be heading for an Oakes trial early next season. A maiden race in week 10 appeals for this season.

pss stable report

this week see's 4 runners from pss out
in race 2 SCARBOROUGH FLYER will be trying to qualify for championship race and if we get a bit of give in the ground should go well.
race 3 has CRACKLING trying to rid himself of maiden tag and must have a chance.
race 4 will see SCARBOROUGH STREAK take her chance not expecting a lot but we felt she deserved the chance to prove herself.
race 5 will have one of my favourites CASTLE CHOP running and if we get soft ground watch her go.

The Whispering Downs stable is in turmoil! The warning signs were there last week when our star performer didn't run to expectations and our other runners were just that - also rans! With the upcoming Championships, we are taking absolutely no chances this week and all horses will train rather than run. In Week 10, we will be running a few to try to cement the chances of our potential Championship contenders. We have already conceded that we cannot win the trainers title this year and we are concentrating on the future.

Good Luck to all participants this week.

FFF are in buoyant mood after two G1 victories in 2 weeks for Ceylon Sapphire and Shiny Silver.

The filly Ceylon Sapphire was perhaps the most impressive winner as she was chucked in against the colts on ground that was a lot easier than she prefers. The aim was a place to ensure entry into the Championship races but connections were delighted when she showed a clean pair of heels to the rest of the field. The handicapper has still not rated her for this race as we are led to believe his calculator couldn't handle the huge numbers involved and for the first time ever the RP didn't issue race comments as he was lost for words!

It was anticipated that we wouldn't see her again until her 10f or 12f debut next year for which training is going extremely well, but the lure of a fillies race on what should be perfect going was too much. The staff were also excited to see the high quality ofsome of the opposition, no matter what happens on the day this is a great early test for her planned tilt at the Oaks. This will be no easy race but we are very confident of a result!

Connections are mulling over an entry to the Dewhurst or Racing Post Stakes for Shiny Silver in week 10. A place in either of these would secure his Guineas entry leaving plenty of room for training in the new season and he is indeed the only horse from the yard likely to take part in either version.

We go into week 9 strong handed in the Free Foal Maiden (colts) with Pure Gold and Iron Age, both are interesting at a decent standard but this is a very competitive race.

We also have Pewter Jug and Sword of Steel chasing some Group prize money, but places are as much as is hoped for.

Sams Stars Stables has just 2 entries this week.
Breakout runs in race 7 .
His only previous outing was on heavy ground and he finished 4/4, but the recent fine weather has seen him getting stronger and this mondays meeting has come at the right time for him.
Our 2nd entry in race 8 is the consistent Waltzing Matilda, one of our star fillies , with her coat gleaming we feel her time has now come to take to the winners paddock, looking over the rest of the field we feel good ground would be the best outcome for the day.
See you all on monday.
