I have anti spyware (Spybot search & destroy) installed on to my computer for the last few months. However, since i have had it installed when i go on to certain sites, such as Sporting Life or Hotmail a message appears on my screen saying....

Spybot S&D Resident

Spybot - S&D reports that you want to download "DOUBLE-CLICK". This is a known threat. Do you want to block this download.

YES / NO

When this message comes up, i usually click yes, and then another message comes up saying the same thing, but instead of DOUBLE CLICK, it reads something else like ADVIVA. Sometimes it wont let me go on sites like Sporting life or Racing Post, I have put up with this until now, but it is starting to annoy me now :( just wondered if anybody had any tips or hints. Bearing in mind i am no whizz kid on the computer. Thanks

I had the same problems with Spybot S&D, only after SP2 for Windows was installed. In the end I couldn't get my online banking to work, so I dumped Spybot & installed Adaware SE. I find it seamless & reliable. Hope that helps.

I still have Spybot installed - it used to do that on my system as well, but doesn't now - don't know if upgrading it to the latest version helped cure the problem or if that part of the program isn't working....

Thanks Seamo44, does Adaware do just as good a job then?

Also thanks BigC, how would i update the spyware edition?

Ideally you should have both programs installed and scan with both regularly...

updating Spybot is easy - start the program up, once it loads click the 'search for updates' button - if it finds any, click the 'download updates' button, and off you go!

I found it helped when I uninstalled Spybot and downloaded the latest version. Before it never found anything. With the updated version it finds quite a few.
