dvd decoder

any one know of a good free dvd decoder?

try a search for 'vlc media player'.

it will play near enough anything.

I use DVDIdle, then any disc can be played/backed up on nearly all software.

tried dvd idle keith, d/l the xp version and when trying to install all it did was restart the pc and corrupt a few files, very strange.
presto ive installed vlc media player but when i put a dvd in it cant find it and it wont let me browse to show it where it is.
any other ideas any1 just want to watch a few region free films

I'ved used DvdShrink in the past (freeware)

Lets you rip a region free copy of your DVD onto your hard drive and you can play it from there, or burn a region free copy to a blank DVD.

Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.

any ideas??
