sorry about this.......... but yet again, I need more spreadsheet help :yikes:

this time it is not the formulas that are the problem. It is to do with text.

my spreadsheet is quite large, and in various columns I need to have the jockeys names in a list. (the same list a couple of times over)

normally i type them once, then when I need them later on in the spreadsheet, I copy and paste.

Is there any way that text is automatically copied from one cell to another?

i.e. if i typed 'please help' in A1, when I press return, it will appear in B1 also

hope this makes some sense. :)

Thanks, Wayne

If you enter '=A1' into B1, without the '', it will replicate the contents of cell A1 into B1.

That what you need?

Auto-complete - mathare?

Does not Excel offer a sugestion as to the word you are typing when it gets to unique word previously typed providing all the previous cell are full?

Auto-complete - mathare?

Does not Excel offer a sugestion as to the word you are typing when it gets to unique word previously typed providing all the previous cell are full?Yeah, but not across columns, only in the column in question. So if you were to type into A100 and the value was already in an earlier row in column A then Excel should try and auto complete for you. But it is limited, it won't work above a certain number of entries. Typing the first 3 letters of the contents of cell A1 into A1000 for example probably won't result in auto completion
