cure your hangover.
I thought with the festive season upon us, lots of alcohol will be consumed! :pn :hic :GP :drnk :party :drinkme
So do any of you know what is a good cure for a hangover?
How do you deal with yours? Do you know of any old wives tales?
Please, nobody state the obvious... Dont drink! :wink
I personally, drink a pint of water (if i can remember) before bed (but i always need a :pss during the night, which is annoying ;fire ), and drink plenty of lucozade the next day. Sometimes i can manage a full breakfast other times they make me :puke .

I always eat a really hot curry, usually an Indian one. Usually sorts the stomach out, apparently, the spices help clear the system out of baddies too.

Works for me anyway. I eat it the day after. I really love hot spices so a really hot curry is my favourite meal. Interestingly, really hot curry is said to be slightly addictive. Even though it burns the mouth off people, they still order it. This is because the really hot spices trick the tongue into thinking it is being 'burned' by something that is actually hot (temprature wise) and then the signal is sent for endorphines to be released which make you feel good :)

Irn Bru.
The miracle hangover cure. I know a few people who swear by a paracetamol and pint of water before they go to bed but personally I am normally too drunk to remember to drink water before I go to bed, I just want to collapse in a heap.
But Irn Bru and maybe some ready salted crisps is a good 'un.
The other surefire way to make you feel better is a nice long, hot shower and a bloody good dump.
Also talking of hangover cures I used to work with a bloke who swore the best way to get over it was to get the blood moving again and the most effective way was to have a shandy the next morning. Of the hand variety.

The body counteracts pain by releasing endorphines to the brain. Endorphins make you happy and are associated with pleasure so people enjoy being whipped and walked up on down on by birds wearing stilettos etc.

I don't come on here for one day and this happens.......
Personally I drink plenty of lucazade sport (the still stuff) before I go bed. It replaces lost water sugar and salts....apparently....works a treat

Got to agree with you here Wayne. A curry the next day always sorts me out. Ice pops is another one.....maybe not in winter though!

Haven't had a drop in over 3 years now, don't have the time, and already damaged my liver from binge drinking in the 80's, early 90's......why does the media seem to think it's a new thing, it's the same as when I was a teenager?

no need to ask what mat get's up too at the weekends :)
going out on a propper sesh on thursday, so the most interesting method of hangover cure i may give a go :)
normally i just lie in bed for most of the day, with a splitting hedach and stomach like a ready to blow volcano. i always feel de-hydrated but often puke if i drink any water :puke as for food - can't normally face any till the day after. i always go way over the top with my 'binge' drinking though.

During my misspent youth, I used the 3-iced-lolly cure for hangovers. One to eat, one on the forehead and one on the back of the neck! Don't be a skinflint - make sure you buy the ones that actually use fruit juice; the vitamin C helps the cure.
Whilst waiting for the symptoms of a decent hangover to subside, you should keep telling yourself that you are determined to 'enjoy' it - you paid enough to get it!!! :laugh

According to some nurses it is sugar that you need the next morning.
They always had a can of coke and a mars bar for breakfast after a heavy drinking session

:hearty I don`t drink but I am told by those who do that a pint of water with a teaspoon of salt ditto of sugar, plus a paracetamol.. not aspirin or nurofen, irritates the stomach lining even more...
but you really are doing your long term health and life expectancy absolutely no good this way.. and what about all the accidents people have and cause when drunk ? Everyone who ends up in A and E when drunk should be made to pay the full cost of their treatment and that of those they may have injured ...why should the NHS - which means people like me and Keith, pay for you over-drinkers ? Sorry to preach but it makes me cross.. enjoy a drink.. or three.. but not thirty three.:hearty

I used to think a litre of diluted MiWadi orange before you go to bed does the trick, till one night i downed 8 pints in 45mins drank the miwadi before i went to bed and woke up with a stomach that was reinacting riverdance for the whole day.
Ive got a funny feeling ginger ale might be the solution to the christmas hangover. Ginger is renowned for its ability to settle stomachs, and is something used by people who suffer from travel sickness, so im HOPING when i get sloshed over the next few weeks itll be my knightess in shining armour in the morning.
So MiWadi before you go to bed to clear the head and a few glasses of ginger ale in the morning to settle the tummy is my advice, ill give it a go in the next week or so and report back, if my tummy isnt too upset:D :puke

I tend to get the impression that the posters on this thread are relatively intelligent people who may overdo it on the odd occasion and then wobble home, but are not members of the battle scarred Saturday night Accident and Emergency club. Those people exist, but the "you over-drinkers" comment is mis-directed here.
