All going well, I should be up at Leopardstown on Sunday, for what should be a great day's racing with no less than Three Grade 1 races on :)

Anyway, Im just wondering, when it comes to form reading etc. Are both British and Irish stats included?

For example, The handicap mark.
If a horse travels to Ireland from Britain, or vice versa, is it the British or Irish mark that is used? (We use different marks over here)

Also, will the form show all races in Both Britain and Ireland, or just form from the country the race is in?

I actually study more British form than Irish, but Im trying to learn more about profiting from the Irish Racing

Thanks, Wayne

:laugh

It was pretty bloody annoying when Aintree was cancelled one year because of them!

Its sometimes tricky to come to any real conclusion balancing both bits of form. ie: Irish and British.

Its better not to rely on one pointer , like very often , some sources will say :

¨on a line through this horse¨ etc

What happens then is all the relevant form is hinged on one performance and variants of. This is unreliable, as you need at least a couple or more bits and peices to come together for more solid confirmation.

Form lines are from the country the race is taking place in though. At least I think so...

Panto Horse (IRE) may be running at a UK course and have a form line of 53F24 for example even though he won his last outing in Ireland as the form for a UK race only covers previous outings in the UK.

I'm pretty sure that's the case

Where does it apply Mat,

I looked at Beef or Salmon's next race on Sunday at Leopardstown...

His recent form shows P-21

The 2 being a race at haydock park!

ALL Irish and British placings will be listed as usual....

Take todays 2.25 at THURLES...

The Racing Post has recent placings as :

-494 Dantes Reef 88 A J Martin 10 11-11 P Carberry 136

Dantes reef last race was at Cheltenham, clearly showing in the recent places......he was 4th

It appears that RP form does include Irish form. As does Sporting Life form. However the Proform software I usually use for form reading doesn't.

So perhaps formlines over here include Irish form but I'm sure they don't include other foreign form such as French, US etc.

Thanks lads. Looks like the form is for both countries (from what I can make out, this is the case most of the time anyway)

Any Ideas about the Handicap mark?
