ok warmer weather is here again right so what i need is a laptop with a long battery life i'm looking at sitting outside a cafe and pluggung into one of the many wireless broadband connections flying about. i'm gonna be connected for about 4 or 5 hours can this be done and how and what kind of lap top do i need

I think you're going to be pushing it to get 4 hours even with 2 batteries Silax, but someone else will have a better idea I'm sure :)

yep thats what i thought big c i looked into it last year and the salesman was full of himself saying 5 hrs battery life so just before i bought one i got him to show me the battery life he had the screen turned right down so you could hardly see it so i turned that up then connected and watched as the battery life just dissapeared before my eyes.
so i guess they haven't got any better

I get 8hrs on mine with 2 batteries.....see www.ajp.co.uk check battery life should be 4hrs....and it has a MOBILE chip.

that looks very good i thought you were taking the pee john i could proberbly buy a crappy laptop now and use the cash i save to buy one of these.
what cheap laptops would go with one of these solar things and connect through someone else's cordless internet

do you get 8 hrs connection to the internet though thats the thing i looked at centrino laptops and as soon as you connected to a g3 connection the battery life started to dissapear

You'll get about 5.5-6hrs on 3G, if you turn the brightness down.

yep thats the thing i plan on sitting in the sun so need the brightness turned right up the solar thingys are looking interesting need to know exactly what i need etc.

Silax, you can't see any laptop in the Sun! You need a UV cover for the screen, and more than likely a shade cover if in direct sunlight. Try viewing a PSP or Gameboy in the Sun, you can't.....same LCD on a laptop, even when facing away from the Sun, you will have too much reflection without a cover.
