A cracker from spike was, when asked how long he'd been in the army he replied, "How long. I was 5ft 11ins."

he was one of a kind Bill, a real comedy genius, both performing and writing.... his war memoirs should be read by everyone!

Agreed big man. Read them ages ago. They were hilarious.You have put me in the mood of reading them again.

If you haven't read some of his later books - all come under the title ".... according to Spike Milligan" He did the Bible, Lady Chatterley, Frankenstein and quite a few others... some very funny stuff in all of them!

Had a search and found they've got them all at Tesco. Cheap too.
