Hello folks

I only occasionally put on a bet for a bit of fun but im interested in taking a professional approach to it later on in the year. This is simply because im using most of my hard earned cash to clear debt first before i lose it all on gambling. Like yous say dont gamble what you cant afford to lose.

Anyway decided to try something different today and put on your placepot (50p stake) also done the scoop6 at ladbrokes while i was there.
Anyway I just have a couple of questions regarding the placepot.

If there is 12 horses why is it possible for more than 12 winning lines? My guess is that if a horse comes first then you get a win and a place result.

How do they work out your winnings if you win?

The number of lines are worked out by multiplying the number of selections in each race together.
To win the placepot you must have a horse place in each of the six races. All money placed on the placepot is pooled and split between the winning lines, less the tote cut of course.
So for example if you had one right in each of four races and two in each of the other two you would have four winning lines and get four times the winning dividend. 1x1x1x1x2x2=4 if the dividend was £42.56 you would get £170.24
Hope that helps.

You perm by multiplying all the lines, so if you had 12 horses, 2 in each race the perm would be 2x2x2x2x2x2=64 bets

Place horses only, win does not matter.

Thanks guys. The lady in the bookies was trying to explain but i just couldnt figure out what she was on about. I now understand.
So for this pot to win i need 1 horse from each race to be placed.
that would be 1x1x1x1x1x1 x placepot dividend
The biggest win would be 2x1x2x3x2x1 =24 x placepot. Thats where the 24 lines comes in.
Out of interest is the stake also returned for the winning lines?
How and when do you find out what the placepot dividend is?
Have yous ever had 24 lines winning?

Thanks again

At the end of the placepot races the dividend will be declared to a £1 stake and will be found on all the usual results sites. This includes the stake.

If you have 24 winning lines with 25p on each then you need to multiply the dividend by 24 (lines) and then multiply by 0.25 (stake in pounds) to get your total return, inclusive of your stake.

The dividend is what you get back as all the stakes are pooled and then split between the winning lines.
The dividend will be on the tote site sometime after the last race. Its a long time since I did it but I think it took about 1/2 hour to be put up.

Cheers guys.

Going to enjoy watching the races today. Been meaning to try a placepot for ages. I only usually put a horse on 1 or 2 races occasionally. Going to have my eyes glued to the telly all day now. Knowing my luck though i wont get a result in the first race or every horse will be placed except in the last race.:spinning

Thanks again.
Aaron.

I would Vegy but you already know them. There from the free placepot on the site. I only ever bet horses that listed here (usually the A+ bets at the weekends) unless i get a gut felling about different one. I cant read form or anything. I just like having a horse to cheer on every now and again.

1 more question. How do i find out what position a horse is to come in to be placed. I know this can change from race to race.

Aaron.

edit: I obviously type too slow for yous lot

1 more question. How do i find out what position a horse is to come in to be placed. I know this can change from race to race. The key factors are field size and whether the race is a handicap or not.

Under 4 runners: 1 place (winner)
4-7 runners: 2 places
8+ runners: 3 places
16+runners (handicap only): 4 places

The Sporting Life/Racing Post etc quick/live results normally just show the placed horses, including the winner obviously. Similarly on the TV when they show the result they should only show the placed finishers.

Any results service. I use Sporting Life Live Settlers Page and just leave it on all day as it updates every min.

Confused about the 1st race.:doh
Bold Fire came in 2nd but there were 4 horses. The ladbrokes website only tells you the winner then states 4 ran. Does this mean Bold Fire isnt placed. Hope not cos then ive lost the bet.:(

In a 4horse race, only the winner counts! :( Sorry Aaron!
