My laptop won't connect to the internet.
I've tried it on all 3 mediums, dial up, wireless and LAN cable. It's using the same router as my pc which is obviously connected 'cos I'm typing this. The connection set up appears to be ok.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.:)

It's blooming gone again. Noticed that the internet connections option had changed on the LAN page to 'Connect via a proxy server' I've put it back to 'automatically detect settings' but it still won't work.:anger
Anyone got a clue how long it takes to detect these settings?:doh

I went to their online help and they've given me a different server to connect to.

Still not working. I've uninstalled onspeed and still can't connect, not even on dial up. The dial up box says I'm on the network and it authenticates my details but I just can't get owt.:(

You need to unselect the Proxy Server if you disable Onspeed Sparky (and don't select Automatically Detect either!)

Done all that mate, still no joy. If I can't get it fixed today there's no betting for me tomorrow.:(

Try a System Restore to when it last worked, rather than getting into the network tech bits.

Erm, where do I do that then?
On the system restore tab, it doesn't give any option to do one.:doh

You must have switched it off at some point then, that's no use.

It gives me the option to switch it off, and then warns that all restore points will be lost so I didn't switch off.

Win2Win

It's already ON then so you should have restore points on the calendar.

I can't see how to do a restore. I still can't get on. I'll have to take it to the IT bloke tomorrow.

It's working again.:) It was the sodding Panda AV.:anger He thinks I must have had a corrupt update 'cos the PC is working fine on it. He's installed AVG. It's free and it the one he uses. If it's good enough for him it's good enough for me.:)

All you needed to do was uninstall Panda & reinstall, probably just a corrupt file.
