I am thinking of upgrading my comp. but I am befuddled by which bits count most towards the speed of the machine.

Some people say it is the RAM others the processor,can anyone help?

RAM is the most cost effective way to upgrade a machine but is largely a short term measure. If you have a PC that is a couple of years old, more RAM will probably add another 12months to its useful life but if it is 3 or more years old, adding more RAM would probably be a waste of money without other parts being upgraded (eg processor and motherboard).
