priceline.co.uk usually have 'reviews' on all the hotels they advertise - if you use the travelogue next to the station, make sure you get one of the upper floors! I woke up at 4:49am to find the rail line actually ran under my bedroom!

I don't think so piggy, my husband refurbished a pub in kings cross and it used to be called the Traffic, turned out to be a gay bar etc, and down stairs had the hand cuffs and the like. He actually pulled a guy who wanted to meet him in our local pub :yikes:,
In my opinion your wife is better finding a hotel just outside the area and get a cab or train.
I live about 30 mins away and would not go there.

The Grange Holborn is nice (Southampton Row) not far from Kings Cross.
Quite expensive but quite nice too.

yeah it is pretty horrible round that area, to be honest Id' not want to hang around there any longer than necessary, definitely worth staying a wee bit out of the area...

the trouble is it has to be close to kings cross as they will not have much time to get from study day back to hotel to pick up bags and then to station to get train home

Hopefully it'll be OK, there are a few unsavoury types in that area. We were up there a couple of years back for the first time in over 20 years and couldn't believe how run down and ugly that part of London had become...

The Ibis at Euston is ok, only a walk away from Kings Cross.
I've stayed in a few at Kings Cross itself but I wouldn't recommend any apart from the travelodge.
This one seems quite cheap - travel Inn

you can't go wrong with a Travelodge or Travel Inn like that - at least you know exactly what sort of hotel it is.
