Macromedia 8

I keep getting this message on this site and some others with a little blue shield popping up at the top of the screen.
This site might require the following ActiveX control:'Flash Player 8' from Macromedia, then cilck here to install.

The question is should i, as i've heard you've got to be a bit careful with some ActiveX programs.

Yes, you can install it.

Macromedia (or Adobe as they're now actually known) have Flash content playing on their homepage. All that the Flash Player is, is a small application that is able to display that Flash content that's playing. It's a safe ActiveX control to install.
