View Full Version : How do I convert my vob files?

I have a digital camera which creates .vob files and I want to make a dvd for my standard player but how do I convert the files cos nero says files not compatible---nearly 5 hours now and got nowhere ;fire ;fire ;fire

You might also find something on www.webmasterfree.com - they usually have a few freebies in the Media section.

Having a quick look around a few forums, I find that these .mod files are essentially MPeg2 files - you can safely rename them with a .mpg extension. This should allow you to use some of the tools provided above to convert the files.

If you cannot see the .MOD bit in 'My Computer' then it is because you have known extensions hidden. In My Computer, click on 'Tools' then choose 'Folder Options' - in the new window click on the 'View' tab at the top - scroll down the list and click to remove the tick in the box against 'Hide Extensions for known file types' - click OK and you should now be able to see the full file name and extension so that when you do a 'Rename' you can just change the extension.
