Feed it some cheese? :D
Have you tried the mouse in another computer?
I'm sure Glos or someone will be able to help Street.

no worries guys , lost my temper with said device and now is beyond saving that will teach the laptop fraternity to mess with me !!!!!!!!!!!
What kind of mouse is it?
If it's wireless, try resetting the little connector that goes with it, and do the same on the mouse. The LED's on both will flash a bit and it'll take a minute or two for them both to reset. Then try again.
Alternatively it could be as simple as needing some new batteries.
I have an optical wireless mouse and use rechargeables, and use a backup mouse for when I need to recharge the bats.
If it's none of the above then you can ignore this post completely. :D

Wonder if anyone can help me please. I keep getting a very annoying two tone "siren" type noise from my computer. There is no warnings or anything on screen, just the noise. It usually starts when I have left it for a time connected to the internet but not actually using it. Driving me crazy!!

May not be this, but I believe if the computer is overheating it does that. There may be other reasons it does too though.
Yeah John, that's your motherboard making the sirens, usually means it's overheating... mine does that too. Need to clear the fan out at the back of your CPU and it should do the trick... which reminds me, I need to do mine!
