The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
If you are ever going to play a game on the PC, this game MUST be top of your list. It involves 3rd person, stategy, RPG.....and a lot of other formats.
The gameplay can go on for months as you develop you character, but unlike other games that have tried to do this, the game area is massive, the graphics the best I've seen on a PC, the water is perfect, the grass and flowers flow in the wind, the fires look real.
I usually finish a game in a few days the previous one Commandos Strike Force, I finished in 2 day, same for SIN Episodes (crap), but this game will go on for ages, as you can interact with everything, talk to all the other humans, develop fighting, magic, arena battling, etc the list is endless.
You get one set main mission at the start, but you can wander off around the world and do what you want, with 100's of missions around the different towns.
If you climb the mountains, it snows, and the grass & trees change as in real life.....you can even ride a horse, and the graphics and movement are perfect.
The game world is big, as below ground their are loads of tunnels & caves, you can collect various plants and make potions to sell or use.
