Get some eardrops and try some Optrex.

My sinuses are knackered after a few broken nose incidents but I rarely have much trouble with them. Last time I did the doctor suggested I start using Optrex drops and they were awesome.

will try them mat, it all started on thursday (got punched on the nose on wednesday night), i don't think my nose was broken, but i think i got some swelling that may have started it off.

Nope, first time when I was a nipper playing in the garden I got hit in the nose and nearly broke it. I suspect it was broken at the time but the doctors weren't convinced. Next time was as a teenager playing football in the park. I got scythed down, got back up and told the lad who 'tackled' me that I didn't really approve of his challenge so he nutted me, cracking me right on the nose. Then one of my brother's mates kicked the crap out of him. And then a couple of years back I did it in again playing 5-a-side football. A great sliding challenge (on astroturf) to win the ball only the guy I tackled was much taller than me and in trying to avoid the tackle and keep the ball he kneed me really hard in the nose.

My nose doesn't go flat to either side like some people's broken nose does. Mine is just slightly crooked after it reset badly the first time it was 'broken'. When I did it the second time the doctors asked if I had broken it before and said according to their colleagues I hadn't. Not what the second set of doctors thought. But the most recent incident just did my sinuses more than my actual nose.

Aha. It was Otrivine (http://www.mypharmacy.co.uk/medicines/medicines/o/otrivine/otrivine_adult_nasal_drops.htm). Nasal drops are quite hard to use I found. They just sort of dribble out again when you put your head the right way up again.

well the sinutabs didn't do much :( (mainly helped the blocked nose).
last night i went nearly fully deaf in both ears, and this morning i woke up a little worse than that :( - got a spray for them, but so far it's just resulted in wet ears :(

i know this sound's silly, but the doctors i will rule out - they are just a sad joke. they still treat with leaches and drill holes in the skull to get rid of headaches.

been there several times with my insomnia over the years, to get the advice 'just go to sleep' ;fire - i kid you not. this was after a few 3 or 4 days without getting any sleep (which is hell). or the advice it's normal not to sleep for a few days :doh

last visit was 3 months ago when i had a mole (quite a big one) on my armpit that started to bleed, i just thaught they would inject it with a pain killer and remove it. but no - he tried pulling it off with his bare hands (gave me no warning). blood everywhere but the mole remained, gave it a good 10 or so pulls before giving up. he said i could just as easily have done it myself at home ;fire - i tried and it would not budge. after a few days it went rotten :ermmm and having foul smelling rotten flesh on your body is not nice. took them 2 weeks before they would remove it the propper way

so you can see why i won't bother with the doctors, it's the same for everyone who goes, no real treatment. and you have to wait for hours even with an appointment.

Medical reasons Presto - sinusitis. Not at all pleasant. But then I hate having water in my ears too.

If I were you I'd go to your local pharmacist and see what he suggests in terms of over the counter medicine

that was the back up plan  - fortunately it's next door to the doctors, so picked myself up some pills. think i will give the olive oil a miss.

At least try olive oil once - if you don't like it, don't do it... but medical, or even non-medical cures aren't meant to be pleasant - that's why they work!

sparkyminer
13th July 2006, 19:04
If it's an infection olive oil won't do anything except give you an oily ear. Olive oil is used to break down ear wax, if your problem isn't caused by ear wax, then you're wasting your time.:)

presto
27th July 2006, 16:47
the drug's didn't work.
the otex didn't work.
the olive oil didn't..... well try.

so i got them syringed today. - i was amazed at how much stuff came out of my ears :yikes: a 5 second jet of water in each ear and there was enough gunk to make a candle.

i won't be able to tell if i can get my hearing back for a while (till all the water drains out). but hopefully this will work.

There's an old joke Presto regarding ear wax, knob on the block and a mallet - that doesn't work either.
If you had that much stuff in your lugs you may well find that your balance problem has nothing to do with alcohol, it's Friday - try it tonight, double your intake and see if your balance is any better - all in the cause of medical science:hic
