I thought i would start to tell you all about Minerals, and if anyones intrested i can start adding more to it.

i have been drinking an assortment of 75 plant derived minerals for about a month now and i feel alive again, much more energy and my brain is working again not just overloaded like it was.

To keep everthing upfront i have now become a independant dealer for these but do not worry i will not try to sell them to you all,(unless you want me to :D :D ) but i wanted you to be able to benifit from these too, anyway read on and please ask questions i am no expert but i do know they have made me feel better.

WHAT IS SO IMPORTANT ABOUT MINERALS?
· Why are minerals so important to our health and well-being?
Minerals play a major role in every electrical, chemical and hormonal impulse that occurs in your body. Without minerals vitamins cannot be absorbed by the body.
You need at least 70 different minerals in your diet every day for proper bodily function. Without these minerals degenerative diseases may occur.
Dr. Linus Pauling, the only person to ever be awarded the Nobel Prize for medicine twice, stated that every single major and minor de-generative disease that we can possibly suffer from in life, is traceable back to one type of mineral deficiency or another.

· Where do we get minerals from?
Our bodies are designed to obtain these minerals from fruit and vegetables, that in turn get them from the soil. When any plant grows, it absorbs metallic minerals from the soils and during the stages of photosynthesis they change to hydrophilic (plant derived minerals). However, due to modern farming practices, the soil is gradually being depleted of its mineral content.
In 1936 the American Government warned all Americans to start supplementing their diets with minerals because the American farmlands had become severely mineral deficient due to over farming. If people didn't take heed of this warning, they predicted that in 50 to 60 years time degenerative diseases caused by mineral deficiencies would reach epidemic proportions. We are now more than 60 years on and this has happened worldwide because the same deficiency in farm soils occurs everywhere.
It only takes 3 to 5 years of using the same piece of land for it to be almost completely stripped of its minerals. Due to millions of years of wind and rain erosion and several hundred years of unwise agricultural practices, farmers cannot afford to crop rotate and leave their best growing fields to rest for the amount of time it would take for the minerals to return. They are only paid to put three minerals back - Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium (NPK). This increases the yield and size of the crop. That leaves us about 67 short every day. This has a cumulative affect on our bodies and is building up problems for the future.

· Minerals & Longevity
There are cultures on earth today where people routinely live to be over 100 years old, and are still healthy and vital. These cultures have virtually no degenerative diseases. The main thing they have in common with each other is that they all live in high altitudes where the rivers are fed by glaciers. The glaciers grind up the bedrock and deposit it, along with its minerals into the rivers. The vital factor is that these cultures all wash and cook with this water, but more importantly they flood their fields with it each year. This replaces all the minerals in the land that the crops have taken out. They have no mineral deficiencies and therefore no mineral deficiency related degenerative diseases.

· What can I do about it?
Take plant derived mineral supplements. Minerals should NEVER be taken in a single format (e.g. just calcium) as they all work together. E.g. if you take calcium supplements, the body cannot utilise it without magnesium and so, instead, it gets deposited in the joints and arterial walls. Make sure you use a balanced formulation.

I've been taking them for years, and just started on Red Wine Powder.....as it has scientif proof behind it that it can lower the risk of heart disease & cancer.....but not if you drink or smoke...so that rules out most of the forum then! :laugh

You should also be on Omega 3,6 & 9

Are they plant derivied or metallic Keith ?

i hope you are taking plant derived minerals,

Both will do you good but your body can only absorb around 5 to 8% of metallic minerals but it can absorb 90 to 98% of plant ones.

If our bodies are SUPPOSED to take in so much of this good stuff, which seems to be endless, then how the hell did cavemen get it all? I presume all they ate was meat and a few plants, and surely god (or the controlling force, whoever that is :geek ) put on the earth exactly everything cavemen needed for their bodies to run as efficiently as possible?

They didn't live on fast or microwave food with very little nutrion......and as we came from the apes, our bodies were designed to absorb plenty of plant stuff.....only later did we eat meat.

Tosh........................we're designed to run on meat. Apes don't eat meat, but chimps do. That's what your fangs are for, ripping meat apart.:D

Edited to correct the apes bit.

I think way back in the days when Tovarich was young, we were eating mostly berries and fruit, but scoffed any carrion that was available - prehistoric roadkill....

Exactly we eat plants and meat,

But what do the animals we eat, eat.
plants, which have not got as many minerals in them as there used to be.

Minerals Help Build Your Immune System

Crucial in the formation and maintenance of strong, healthy bones

Children need a substantial mineral intake during all developmental stages to insure good health later in life

Minerals Increase Your Energy, Enhance Your Appearance, Expand Your Intelligence

Vitamins are basically useless in the absence of minerals

The human body can suffer far longer with a vitamin deficiency than it can with a deficit of minerals

I like Lemmy's take on healthy living.... potatoes are part of the veggie group, so salt and vinegar crisps make up one of my 5-a-day.... and when it's hot and you're in danger of dehydration.... put more ice in your JD and coke... :)

too many capital letters Micky - was that a cut'n'paste job?! :)

According to Gary Price Todd, M.D., the human body requires at least 60 minerals in order to maintain a disease and ailment free state.

But, only about 15 minerals are available in any kind of quantity in most of the food we eat today.

Sick soil causes sick plants, which in turn causes sick animals, and ultimately sick human beings.

Correct, we come from Apes, Chimps are another sub species with a more diffused DNA string from that of humans (but still close enough to medically abuse them!!). Our bodies are also designed to eat once a day.
