I still cant get betfair.

Every time I click on it (or type it in the bar) I am faced with the 'this page cannot be displayed' page. I have tried everything I can think of. I cleared all temp files/cookies. I have done a virus scan. I have done a spybot and an ad-aware scan. I have done a system restore.

No Joy. This is getting serious at this stage.

When I type in the address, I am faced with this message:

The page cannot be displayed
There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed.

Please try the following:

Open the www.betfair.com home page, and then look for links to the information you want.
Click the Refresh button, or try again later.

Click Search to look for information on the Internet.
You can also see a list of related sites.

HTTP 500 - Internal server error
Internet Explorer

Any help at all would be really appreciated!!

Try using the IP address instead.

212.62.21.228 - just type it into the address bar and press the enter key.

If you get onto the Betfair page, the problem is probably DNS related and you might need to contact your Internet provider.

Hi Oldham,

We tried that earlier, unfortunately it didn't work. :(

As far as I'm aware, an internal server error means there's a problem getting the information to the web browser via HTTP. It isn't a client problem but a server problem.

Actually Wayne, giving Betfair customer support a ring in the morning is worth a try.

OK - go to tools, Internet Options, Advanced and remobve the tick from 'Show Friendly HTTP error messages'.

Then go to the Betfair site and come back and let me know what the error says.

Just did a google search and read a message from someone from who had the same problem back in March - apparently he solved it by using www2.betfair.com. I've no idea what the 2 is, or why it should work, but maybe worth a try ?

Sorry I can't be any more help :(

:yikes:

Are you a mind-reader, Oldham? We have just done that too, but accessing the Betfair site just produces a ton of XML code, not an actual "written-in-English" error.

Wayne has just logged off for the night, so this'll probably be easier to continue with tomorrow.

I can post the error code (XML) if you like Oldham? Edit: No can do... closed chat window.

Try Scaaty's idea first - it might work as I think they use a 'scriptless' page on that address (although it might be a bit slower).

Have you tried Betfair lite?

How about trying the Mozilla or Avant browser?

Opera or Firefox

Tried Steganos Anonym or Anonymizer (very good)

Checked if your ISP hasn't put a block on it :doh, or your AV/Firwewall hasn't blocked it (switch them off one at a time and test)
