Eventully people will wake up and see that ALL religons have extremists who excert disproportionate influence to the detriment of the sensible majority. The frightening thing is the Christian Fundamentalists actually have more power to affect the way I live than any other group although you would not believe that if you took the press at face value. Christmas is coming up and we will have the rehashed daily mail story saying that Christmas is been banned due to people of other faiths which is absolute rubbish and is trotted out every year. Meanwhile the real things that affect peoples lives, the real important things like the right for a woman to have an abortion, or the right of people to gamble, or the rights of people to not be discriminated against because of their sexuality, or the rights of people to be protected against Aids through contraception are been undermined and threatened daily by these people and yet all we talk about is a daft urban myth about whether we can stick a stupid tree in our window or not.

Simple question:

Should I celebrate Christmas if I don't believe in God?

Of course John, Christmas for most people, has absolutley nothing to do with religon - its a nice break in the middle of winter and forms 3 days of our countries miserly 8 days annual national holidays. Jesus wasnt even born at that time of year anyhow. I dont care what reason they give for having the bank holiday, if it means a day off work im all for it!
