Just had one less than an hour ago, anyone want to smack me in the mouth cos I won't feel it. :D
This was my first one, the filling looks kinda green though, I'm not sure if it's supposed to!
How long's it take for the feeling to wear off? I had 4 teeth removed about 6 years ago but I can't remember how long it was...
Really want a cup of tea n'all. :(

It usually starts to wear off after about 2 hours (I usually find it gets number up 'til then) then maybe another 2 or 3 hours before the pain really kicks in. :wink

You can have a cup of tea, just be careful how you drink it.:D
It'll take up to 4 hours for it to wear off completely. If it's a mercury amalgum filling it will have a green tinge under certain types of light. The same way that grass looks extra green under floodlights. It's all to do with the frequency of green light and mercury discharge lighting etc etc.:)

mercury discharge lightingSurely if you've got a mercury discharge then the rectal thermometer has broken and you don't want to try lighting the discharge :yikes:

You were right about it getting number first OFF!
Thanks for the physics lesson Sparky. :D I'm not sure what kind of filling it is, just looks very odd. It was quite strange because as soon as I had the injection they scaled and polished them whilst waiting for the novacaine (is it novacaine?) to kick in.

it'll be novacaine or something similar. Worst thing to do is eat something that needs a lot of chewing as you'll end up chewing lumps out of the inside of your mouth! As it wears off it'll feel really weird... and depending on how big / deep a filling you may have a wee bit of pain for a day or 2.

I think it's starting to wear off now, it's like having pins and needles in your mouth without the prickly feeling. Just like having a mouth full of rubber! Have made myself a cup of tea coupled with a sausage roll... so far so good. :)

At the risk of sounding like a big girls blouse,
the last time I had filling most of the pain came from the injection.
And I could still feel the scraping and drilling!
I have decided I'd rather have broken teeth!

Vegy would know all about that as he practises safe sex... :laugh

The pain does come from the injection (although people make that out to be a lot worse that it is), after that you would have still been able to feel the drilling and scraping but it shouldn't have been painful, just slightly discomforting.
