View Full Version : Rigged cards

I know a couple of blokes who swear blind cards are rigged on certain sites "Betfairs site gets slagged off the most".

I don't play poker often but when I do, I have seen some pretty bizarre hands but just put that down to the nature of the game.

Does anyone think sites would actually rig their cards, and if so why?

To give beginners and edge so they come back?

To increase their rakes because of more frequent big pots?

Can't think of any other reasons, surely though none of the big sites would do this?

Thoughts anyone?

All sites are audited by independent bodies. They would never risk 'rigging' hands as it would immediately leave them open to lawsuits and also would severly deplete their player base.

Hopefully not the same body that audits online casinos and roulette machines.. If they are audited?

you're much more likely to remember something unusual than something that's not - and that doesn't just apply to poker... anywhere in life.... it's just how our memory works. For example, that's why folk will always remember what they were doing the day Princess Di was killed, and not what they were doing the day before, or the week before.

Why?

If you check the country of origin, you can trust the laws of that country to ensure the site does what it says on the tin.

Do you honestly believe a reputable company (most of the stock market) would risk losing everything just to fix a few cards? :ermmm

If your on a casino that is registered in Nigeria, then it is the users own stupid fault.

I remember reading somewhere a lot of online casinos are rigged to stop m/gayle style bets on roulette and blackjack at after the player has won certain limits.

Was that bull aswell then?

Yep, as statistically you will lose the bank guaranteed, and table limits bugger you anyway.

Poker sites have no real reason to rig hands. Their income is garaunteed with the rake in cash games and buy-in for tournaments. The people who say they are rigged are usually the ones on the wrong end of a beat. It sometimes appears to happen more often on the internet because the hands played per hour is far greater than live poker.

Was that bull aswell then?Yep, 100% :horse. As Keith says casinos have table limits to stop someone Martingaling too far but in all honestly they love people who use betting 'systems' like that. They'll risk thousands to try and win a fiver, it's madness. And it's usually done on games such as roulette than cannot be beaten by any betting system. Roulette has a house edge that cannot be altered by any betting system known to man or beast yet many people think they can beat it :ermmm Online casinos are no different to real casinos in terms of table limits etc. And also most real casinos are owned by a small number of people through a large property group and the same is becoming true of online casinos. Why risk losing all those casinos by fixing a few cards to stop someone winning a few grand when the casinos themselves will be raking in an absolute fortune? The amount a casino could save by rigging cards is mere pennies compared to the income they can generate by running reputable games so why take the risk?
