You've probably never even heard of this - up until today, I hadn't either!

The Qatsi trilogy is a series of DVDs which sets quite powerful images to the music of composer Philip Glass.

The first of the series, Koyaanisqatsi (Life out of Balance) uses mainly spectacular scenery and film of deserts, oceans and clouds. Although made a few years ago, the scenes are the sort of images used to first advertise HD TV. The sequel, Powaqqatsi (Life in Transformation) concentrates on people and a mix of East and West Cultures and Third World images. The final film of the set, Naqoyqatsi (Life as War) features a blend of Computer generated and real life images cleverly intertwined.

With a superb musical score accompanying each film, these are true works of art.

I saw Koyaanisqatsi when it was first shown on Channel 4 many years ago.. it was superb! I wasn't so impressed with the second film, but you've surprised me now by telling me there's a third... must check it out! Philip Glass is an excellent composer... his 'new' soundtrack to the old Bela Lugosi version of Dracula is brilliant, and gives the old movie a whole different atmosphere - worth checking it out!

The latest work features some excellent Cello solos from Yo-Yo Ma but I haven't made my mind up about the film yet. The images actually seem to be an afterthought where in the first two, you felt the music had been written to enhance the images (maybe the fact that Francis Ford Coppola put his name to the earlier works has something to do with that).

I found all 3 in the 'Bargain' section of my local Music Zone store, so it's probably been around for a while.

There are a few people with very good taste on here :)

I got them as the first two in a box set and the third as a standalone DVD.

Well just as long as Vegy doesn't post up that he's a fan... :yikes:

I've got the first 2 in a box - thanks for the heads up on the third at amazon...

Did you know on amazon at the moment if you buy a Hellman's mayonnaise sandwich book (5.99) you get it free and free postage - this means they deduct 8.74 off your bill - if you spend over £15 and get the free delivery too (not hard as you've a 5.99 head start) you basically get £2.75 off and a free book (which is quite good actually!). Plus - I do believe they give your order express delivery (all my stuff arrived within 48 hours on free delivery!)

If anyone wants the details they're on the money saving expert website (don't know if I'm allowed to post the link here but I'm sure you can find it!)
