weight / BF% challange

right just weighed myself - first time in over 10 years i reckon, and it's pretty shocking :yikes: :

weight - 252lbs (thats 18 st)
body fat % - 22% estimation

the BF% are pretty inaccurate, the one with height + weight gave 55% BF (rediculouse) but, another one taking into account waist size gave 18%BF, i found another taking more measurements which gave out 22%BF - this is the figure i will use (as it took into consideration the most measurements), and estimated 90KG muscle / 25KF fat.
body fat calculator (http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/home-body-fat-test-2774-143.html?#healthyamount)

the 22% BF puts me in the catogory of the adverage american, which i would assume is just a bit more than the adverage UK. to be honnest it's not as bad as i thaught it might have been, short height (5'10) and large weight tend to up the BF% as muscle isn't really considered in the equasion. (see the 55% BF in the first measurment) but taking into account the other measurments 22%BF seems realistic.

so the aim for the year:
lose 3st - this may be a hard task if i am to continue building strength (muscle), so the BF% may be a better indicator. so i may aim to reduce the 22%bf to 15%bf - the BF% is a much better indicator of health than weight alone.

You have 35% body fat.

You have 107.8 Pounds of fat and 200.2 Pounds of lean (muscle, bone, body water).

I'm an average woman :yikes: :ooo

I've started doing weights, and a few other things to put some muscle back on me, I make an Ethiopian look fat :D

No idea how far I'll get. Also bought a few supplements to make sure I've got the right chemicals in me.

Maybe it's about time I went on top instead of letting the wife do all the work :laugh

They say sex is a great form of exercise,
but how good is 2 minutes excercise per week? :doh

Approximations:

Height: 170cm (5'8")
Weight: 120lbs (8st 6oz or 55kg)

BMI: 18.2 (underweight by 0.3)

My aim is to gain a stone in weight by the end of this year. I think half a stone is more realistically achievable but I'll try and go all the way. I think around the 10 stone mark would be my optimum weight. :)

Good luck Presto, you can do it! :D

Interesting stuff Presto. Your link puts me at 23.4% but I have a set of those combined scales/bodyfat monitors at home which put me at around 29% :yikes: . I think I'll go with your link.

My plan's similar to yours - get back to the gym, lose about two and a half stone of fat and retain the muscle that's still (I think) somewhere underneath. Note "retain" - actually building more is enormously difficult if you're losing weight.

Now get yer max lifts on here and let's see what you're made of :D

just put a few lifts up, but it's a bit unreliable. over crimbo, well the past 3 weeks at least i havn't lifted anything, and not exactly been healthy eating etc......
deadlift - i think thats pretty respectable, well it's my first time going for any weight on it, only had a dabble twice before @ around 70/80KG's. the 130KG X 3 was really quite challanging and made me dizzy.
bench press - very dissapointed with this, thaught i should have been able to bench atleast 50KG's for more reps. however this was lying flat on the garage floor (had some carpet), because of no bench i had to first lift from behind my head, which isn't ideal. and i did struggle with just the 3 reps. It's also my first real go at this.
squat - no rack limits me to what i can shoulder press over my head, so 40KG's is all i will do, i can manage 10 reps X 3 with a good inbetween rest, but these really hurt more than they should, i get dead leg's for a week.
curl - not one of the big 3, but i made reasnoble progress in weight last year with these, and quite happy with 5X20kg's ea.

i will keep updating my max lifts around once a month.
