I have regular occuring muscle spasms in my right calf. Occasionally in the left, but more frequently on the right.

I have read that this could be due to dehydration, or regular kicking activity!
I'm not one for regular activity :ooo and I drink loads.

The frequency doesn't really call for a doctor's visit. We're talking monthly rather than weekly!

Anyone know what causes spasms and the best way to prevent them?

Thanks Nick, a lot better than the site I found on google.

Doesn't look like it's harmful, bar the odd 30 seconds of unbearable pain :laugh. Which is a relief!

I had a muscle spasm in my right shoulder a few months ago and continue to get them. I have had one a week for the past 3 weeks. Has anyone else had this happen? I know I need to go back to the doctor for this (I went to ER for the first one). Any advise or suggestions?

I know I need to go back to the doctor for this

Really you need to follow your own advice there - the longer you leave it the worse it may get, and the more difficult it could be to treat properly.

i used to get thoes in my shoulder years ago - got a unbearable burning pain with it aswell.
- it happened when i left the window open when i slept. doc said it was just the cold getting to it.

Jammey, don't take it to heart, if it is a rare condition (and I assume it is) then it is likely that none of the people on here would know much about it.

And there is unlikely to be anything anyone can add from what you have been told by neurosurgeons!

Posting something as serious as you have on the end of a thread started by me was also probably not the best way to get it noticed by the majority of users.

I'm sure you have the symptahy of everyone for your daughter, but I'm sure you weren't seriously expecting to find answers here.

I'm afraid I'm in no position to give advice or answers as I know nothing about the condition mentioned. However, I do wish you and your daughter well, and hope that the neuro's find out what's wrong and soon!
