Don't know why I let her near it.


Every time the PC starts up, it logs into Limewire. Any ideas how to stop this? I've tried looking under all the settings, but can't find a setup menu.

What used to happen?

1) Limewire would start when Windows started but wouldn't log in
2) Limewire would only start when you told it to
3) Other

If it used to be option 2 then you could:
Right click Start menu button
Explore
Start Menu - Programs - Startup
Check if a shortcut to Limewire is in there and if so delete it

I don't have Limewire installed to check through the setting myself but I thought there was an option that made it start when Windows started and this could be toggled off

Run - msconfig - startup and decide for yourself what you want to run at the start.

Yep, there is such an option in Limewire's settings. When the program is running, click on Tools on the top menu bar, then Options. In the box that appears, doubkle click on Advanced, then click on System Startup - that's where you'll find the switch you need.

I've had the Pro version for a good year or so now and though I don't use it very often, when I do I have no problems at all... though I do pay close attention to what I'm downloading with it - file sizes are a dead giveaway for starters - anything that is in Kb isn't a proper mp3, more likely a virus or some sort of malware. You just have to use a bit of common sense.
