Hi I have a right mess , I've been reading this forum for years now but never posted as my knowledge of racing & computers is limited & I learn more than i know .
So I'm hoping to get the answers here ?

Well As I wrote its a right mess.
I bought a HP computer from e bay mainly for my daughter to play games on & for me to surf & bet.

I went through it & I found quite a few files from Limewire that I did not want my daughter to stumble upon so I tried to delete them but was unable to ?
Also there were a few programs that could not be removed so I did a system restore only to find that the ethernet drivers ,sound, video controlers were not installed ! so i reset it but then still had the damn photos in the thing !

So in the end I pressed format the disc but later found that I needed the original discs to install the OS , I have just bought the HP Discs from Genner comms but It still will not load anything at start up. It says that there is a kernel missing & that i should insert a diskette & restart. Well I have set the machine to boot from the CD rom & it says its reading the setup files & then goes blank forever ??

I am able to get on the net only because I have this disc that gets me on here from the CD/DVD drive but thats it !!

There was probably a hidden partion on the HD with the install files for the OS, which you've now lost.

You should NEVER format a drive, things can always be fixed. You could have just downloaded freeware to erase everything that was not essential to the system.

If you have a license key for XP, then you can download a bootable version form a torrent site on someone else's computer.
