I'm off to Slane tomorrow night to see the Rolling Stones. I've never been a huge fan, but always enjoyed their music so I'm looking forward to it, despite them being nearly as old as my parents. It's supposed to bucked rain, so mud will be the order of the day.

It's the songs that makes any artist memorable and relevant. The Stones have some great, timeless songs that have aged better than many of those written by The Beatles.

They were on TOTP2 the other day singing The Last Time. That was one of their early songs and still sounds fresh and punchy. It's aged much better than She Loves You, for example.

I'm sure you'll enjoy them, if only for the crack.

I'd love to see a band like the Rolling Stones live. A big rock band who can play hit after hit and get the crowd rocking throughout a 2-hour set without having to resort to "And here's a long of our latest album" like a lot of bands when they know a lot of the crowd haven't got the latest album because they have been rubbish for the last 5+ years but you still love all the old hits.

I've seen the Stones live a couple of times and they are abso-flippin-lutely amazing. You'll get the best part of 2 and a half hours of pure brilliance, a mix of classics, a few new songs and they always dig out some old obscurities they haven't played in years. You'll have a great night Wayne - enjoy!

I recently 'got hold of' the first 3 DVD's of the new 4 disc set from the earlier part of this tour in 2005/6 and you would never guess these guys were in their 60's... what's brilliant as well is they change the set to suit the sort of venue they play - they have a sort of stadium set, a wembley arena type set, and an intimate club or small theatre set and that's the one I'd love to see live.... the twice I saw them were stadium gigs - Hampden and Wembley. Have to say I'm a wee bit jealous :)

Couldn't agree more - I've only seen them live once, at Earls Court in the seventies, and it still stands out as one of the best gigs I've ever been to, despite the fact that there was some sort of problem with the sound system. Not sure what exactly, I read about it afterwards and apparently they were trying out something experimental intended to 'even out'the sound so no matter where you were in the hall it sounded right - it didnt !
Anyway, no-one cared, the energy and the atmosphere were just incredible, a brilliant night.

Have a great time - I'm a great big enormous bit jealous !! :)

Well, I had a great time and they put on an energetic 2 and a half hours. Highly recommended, and they could show a lot of these modern 'entertainers' a few things about putting on a good show.

Unfortunately, they left Angie out, but the set was amazing and was mainly oldies.
