Well the Breeder's Cup is here, and unlike other years I haven't paid any interest in it until today. This is mainly due to the crap flat season we've just had, which craped out after Royal Ascot thanks to the weather and only recently have the form lines been working out. The only decent racing this year has been the Group 1's, anything below that the form has been pretty meaningless.
So what of the Cup tonight? Well with the up & down season this side of the Pond, you can rule out the English horses, what few of them run, and as I know bugger all about the other runners, I'll only be having one decent bet.
9.50 Breeders Cup Turf
We always do well in this race, and we have another good contender with Dylan Thomas. However, plenty of word is out about English Channel, so as long as we have 8 runners, I'll be playing Dylan for a place around 1.4 to win a few hundred smackers. I play for profit, not glory of winning such an event.
The only other horse worth a mention is Excellent Art from the O'Brien yard in the 8.20 Breeders Cup Mile. He hasn't beaten anything of real quality in GP1's this year, and only just scrapped home when he did. This is a tough race for 3yo's, and with a bad draw as well, I'll be laying it.
Apart from that, I reckon all of today's racing is the best I've seen since Royal Ascot.
