View Full Version : Kauto Star - Backable or not?

What do the wisemen think of Kauto in the Betfair on Saturday - anyone fancy the even money on bf? Anyone reckon it's a lay? or just simply watch and file away the results for the big one in March??

I had one of my biggest ever bets in the same race last year on Kauto. 6/4, was a whopping price imo and it won as it liked. I think a fit My Way de Solzen would put it up to him but that one will probably need the run. Exotic Dancer should come on for a poor effort last time out but can't see it improving enough to beat Kauto. Aces Four is a horse I like but he had the ground he likes last time and seemed out of sorts, but I still think a big prize is inevitable for that one if it puts it all together (avoids falling). Forget the rest.

In summary, I'm a bit torn about this one. Backed Kauto in every race last year and you can sometimes let things like that cloud your judgement (Brave Inca was a particular weakness of mine), but then again he could win on the bridle and make even money look like a steal.

Opinions please.

im backing it no matter what the price. Thats all I can say, would never try to persuade someone one way or the other if they were not sure.

He ran a cracker last time for his first run, remember it was a Handicap, and he was giving plenty of weight away he will not be doing on Saturday. He's a CD winner, previous race winner, top class, Evens is about the right price. I'd wait until the day though so we know what the going is.
