After yesterday's race in Ireland, I can't see anything other than a Kauto win in the Gold Cup.

Denman wasn't that impressive, and nor was he for most folk, the bookies even shortened Kauto.

If you use Beef or Salmon as a marker, Denman has a good few pounds of improvement to do, but as we seen in the King George, Kauto has improved as well.

Talking of BoS, he's not getting any younger, and is a complete stayer these days, plodding on at the end. If I was the owner, I'd seriously consider the Grand National, as he's still a good jumper, and he won't be stopping after 4.5 miles. I reckon he'd finish in the top 4 no problem.

Im going to back Kauto in that race as he owes me nothing having made me some good cash during the year. It will be a big test though and I wont be steaming in thats for sure.

I agree Denman has a few pounds on the book to make up, but the race seemed a muddling affair. If the Gold cup is run at a truer pace we might see Denman get closer to Kauto.

Having said that Kauto's run at Kempton was simply outstanding and he looks a worthy favourite.
