Any school puddings you used to hate?

I never eat puddings, hate custard, hate anything warm that slithers down my throat :ooo .......like jam

Remember the 1cm thick skin on Rice Pudding? :laugh Everyone fighting over a slice :headbange

Not much of a pudding fan either. Used to like Semolina or custard when I was a kid, but went off both, probably due to eating school versions. Only puddings I tend to enjoy need to have chocolate as a main ingredient, or fresh strawberries and loads of cream.

I used to love school puddings. I can't remember any I didn't like as we didn't get tapioca or semolina.

All those syrup sponges and stuff with custard - yum! Pink custard, yellow custard and chocolate custard. Ooh, and chocolate concrete - which no-one outside of NE Lincs seems to have heard of.

I wasn't that keen on Manchester tart - a sort of pastry base with jam and then cornflakes on - but I'd eat it anyway with enough custard on.

as for puds - they were the only decent thing at my school. apart from high school where we used to sneak out to the chippy.

I was always first in the queue for seconds of school pud...rice pudding, coconut sponge, bakewell tart, treacle tart, tapioca, spotted dick, jam roly-poly, bread and butter pudding. And lashings of custard although I wasn't too keen on that awful pink custard they used to make. The only one I couldn't eat was Christmas pudding probably because it was too stodgy.

We always had semolina :puke Right up until senior school, then it was chips/beans/sausage etc and no sign of puddings! Seemed great at the time but what a shocking diet to have 5 days a week when you think about it!

I adore puddings.
Apple pie, apple crumble, treacle sponge, bread and butter pudding, cornflake tart. This list is endless.
We also used to have the chocolate concrete.Yum yum in my tum.:)
Ironically, today, I have made for the kids and me. Treacle sponge with proper vanilla custard.
I also used to, still do, love the skin on custard, rice pud etc etc.:D

i loved school puds except pink custard and bakewell tart, did you ever have something called gypsy tart it was a light brown sticky thing very sweet but somehow addictive. my brother held the school custard eating record at 2 1/2 jugs :yikes:

I loved school stodge - which was any sort of cakey/spongey pudding..with loads of custard though we never got pink.. i still love every sort of milk pudding and used to get everyone`s milk pudding skin too..only puddings I didn`t like and still don`t are any with jam and or coconut..I like jam on bread though. I hated Bakewell..loved anythng treacley... goodness me it takes you back. I never knew chocolate concrete.. what do you supose they made it from ?
I once had a recipe for dark treacle jelly.. it`s fantastic. Wish I could find it but I couldnt make it without as it was quite trcky to get right. :hearty

In my day, pizza was still a foreign (and therefore, unknown) substance as far as the cookies were concerned. So we used to have lots of traditional grub like beef stew with dumplings, braised ox heart, liver and bacon, toad in the hole, steak and kidney pud...all served up with mash, cabbage, carrots, and a ladle of gravy. The only time we had chips and beans was when fish fingers were on the menu.
As it was a boarding school, the evening meals were of a similar nature - lamb stew, beef pie, faggots, sausages...with more mash, cabbage, carrots, and gravy! The only exception was Saturday evening when we had processed cheese slices on toast and a Mr Kiplings fruit pie which we squirrelled away amongst our person so we could get back to the TV room and nosh it while we watched Dr Who.

I used to hate semolina or frogsporn as someone else has mentioned, used to love the rainbow sponge and custard which was usually chocolate or pink!
