My missus had a driving lesson a couple of weeks back when she clipped the curb, breaking the plastic hubcap, and putting a little dent in the wheels rim.

She's just told me the bugger is charging her £300 for repairs, and for the lesson he had to cancel with someone else while he took it to the garage.

As far as I'm aware, he's the instructor, it's his car, he's fully insured. The cost of the lesson includes insurance does it not?

She's already paid him some of it :splapme (women!!).......But he'll be giving it back next week :punch2

I'm pretty sure the cost of the lesson includes insurance. It bloody should do, anyway

I've emailed the two Driving Associations see what they say first.

So what if she drove into a pertrol tanker, that blew up, and wiped out a coach load of people.....she pays for that as well? :doh

i can't see how on earth he can charge for the damage, let alone £300. i don't even think that the misses needs insurance as he should be covered (and responsible) for all drivers who get in the car.

About 1,000 years ago when I was learning to drive I did something similar..the first thing he said was 'don`t worry, I`m fully insured for any damage you do.' It`s a legal requirement for him to be full comp. for him and all the L drivers. He`s trying it on. :hearty

I reckon the instructor has been trying to take advantage of the fact your wife is foreign and less likely to know the facts about the insurance stuff.

A few years ago a learner car came out of a turning behind me then, as I strolled along the pavement, veered in front of me and crashed into a telegraph pole. Seems the woman forgot that she had to straighten the steering wheel. The instructor was pretty miffed but, at the end of the day, most insurers offer specialist policies for instructors.

how does a hubcap cost 300 its just a piece of plastic. yeah the driver should be insured for all drivers.

Seems to me that big c is right and this dick is trying it on. This kind of action must be illegal or at the most a case of intimidation. I'd report it to the police and put the frighteners on the scumbag.:bangb
