Your government will have you voting on the same EU referendum that you distinctly voted NO the first time......what have they changed in it? Bugger all!!!!
So how does this democracy lark work....they keep voting till they get an accidental YES?
If they do get a YES, will they hold another referendum a few months later to make sure it was a YES.....as that is the system thye use with a NO vote!! :doh
If I was allowed to vote in Ireland, I'd ignore the question, and just vote NO to make sure the ::swear politicians are paying attention.
Then even if you do vote NO, they'll bring it in the back door anyway. :ermmm

Ridiculous isn't it that they can just do this. Let's hope it's an even bigger resounding "No"

They would love to bring do it without a vote but they can't. It'll probably end up a no vote again. I'll vote no just to go against the morons in charge over here. Funny thing is- you boys didn't even get to vote at all.

It is crazy but this is what the EU is like nowadays...they are so out of touch and they are an elite who think they can do what the want. Democracy my :butthead:. Weird thing is, I think Ireland will vote yes now after some of the things they were not sure of before have been re-negotiated! I really hope they vote no just to show the EU they cant do this but I dont reckon they will. & as has been said, even if they do vote no again, they will bring it in the back door as they will say its not a treaty anymore and so doesnt need a vote! :ermmm

I haven't really looked into any of the details but apparenly in the new agreement, each country will still have there own Commissioner as opposed to only two thirds of countries having one on a rotation basis in the old agreement. However, our own Prime Minister has already admitted that this could be changed anyway if the treaty is passed.
It'll be a no again I think and for the sake of democracy I hope it is!

I think the thing you also have to take into consideration is this economic downturn and how vunerable Ireland and more importantly Irish people feel and if they will feel happier with the EU behind them.
We didnt get a vote, as promised, because apparently after all the tinkering to the treaty...it isnt one anymore so we the people dont need to be asked as was in the Labour manifesto at 2005 election. But Labour isnt scared we would say no or anything! :laugh
I found this quite interesting from June this year;
http://www.independent.ie/national-news/lisbon-treaty/revealed-why-we-voted-no-to-lisbon-1412027.html
It states,
The poll of 2,000 voters found:
- Young people voted 'No' by a margin of two to one.
- The vast majority of women voted 'No'.
- A large number of people who do not vote in general elections voted.
- People who did not understand the treaty voted 'No'.
- The huge influx of immigrants into the country was a factor in the 'No' vote.
- More than 70pc of 'No' voters thought a second treaty would be negotiated. How right they were! :D
