If we knew the answer as to which way it was going we could all retire but failing that anyones best guess as to whether to purchase some now or wait a month or so. If the B of E lower interest rates again then it is likely that it will be more than one pound for one euro however europe have their own problems so they could lower their interest rates as well in which case we might get a better exchange rate.
At the moment the best rate I can find is 1.04 to the pound.

Those odd few 0.1's make no real difference, unless you are exchanging £10,000's

You are right about the odd 0.1's but a month or so ago I managed to get 1.27. Is that what you think - not a lot of change over the next month or so.
Now wishing to break rules/giving out links - there is a web site that lists the best exchange rates
Crown currency £500 buys 522.15 delivery free all the way to the Co-Op
where £500 buys you 505.20 with £4.95 delivery charge

It's not free delivery, it is included in the exchange rate......best way is to save the £5, and go to the bank. PO is usually pretty good.

I paid £61.26 for 65 Euros last week - horrendous if you ask me.

Of course the bureau's are making enough on the deal to offer free delivery but the crown lot are still going to give you more euro's than the co-op.

Somebody may know better but I think Natwest are offering 1.01 euro to the pound today so there are better rates to had. On £500's worth you might make about 18 euro!

It'll stabalise at around £1 = 1 euro. Then the government won't need to call for a referendum for us to adopt the currency. (Of course, I might just be an old cynic!!)

It wouldn't matter if they did change it then, and it'd bugger up those Southern Irish chappies getting huge discounts in the North :D

It was all engineered by Mandelson, Ken Clarke, George Osborne and a very rich speculator friend of theirs. All the politicians want us to join the Euro and there was only one way to ensure that happened. Enter, George Soros; just like when he bust us out of the ERM.
