I've got that, side-effect of my reactive arthritis.....feels like your eyeball is about to explode......If you're using the drops, it should settle down within 2 days, and it doesn't reappear that often with me.

Dear god, I won't tell you what I thought that link said!

Need I say that I was fearing for my job between clicking on it and the actual site appearing!

Doesn't affect your job and constant globetrotting does it Tony?

Hopefully not vegy ive been told it could be chronic recurrent or chronic
uveitis / iritis due to the amount of inflamation of the iris if this is the case then its case of keeping it under control when it re-apears.

As keith said the headache i got with it was like my head exploding until i got the steroid drops which has calmed it down. Will find out more on thursday

I suffer from recurring uveitis / iritis as well.

My first outbreak (only in my left eye) was in September 2004.
I was put on the steroid drops (using them every 2 hours) & another drop which 'paralyses' the iris muscle keeping the pupil permanently dilated.
The idea was that I was to use the paralysing drop for a few days (along with the steroid drop) then stop using it altogether & continue using the steroid drop at less & less frequent intervals until I was down to a couple of drops a day, then stop altogether.

After about 4 weeks it had cleared up.

My problem is that after about 3 - 4 weeks of not using the steroid drop the iritis comes back.

Now if used continually the steroid drop carries the risk of increasing the pressure in the eye, with glaucoma a possible result.

Over the last 4 & a bit years I have had 4 full blown recurrences of iritis.
Seriously painful & it makes your eye incredibly sensitive to light, especially low sunlight.

My hospital have now got me using the steroid drop once every couple of days saying the need outweighs the risk (above). However every 3 months I have to stop them completely to see what happens...........and.......if/when I feel the iritis coming on again, they let me start using the drops again.........but have to have the pressure checked at least once every 9 months.

Costing me a bloody fortune in prescription charges.

The downside of all this is that it has affected the sight in my left eye so much so that I keep having to get my glasses prescription checked/changed every year.
