Thornton is a maestro, McCoy is surprisingly poor and the less said about Sam Thomas, the better. Wayne Bailey looks at the stats of some of the leading jockeys.
In recent times, the main man around the Cotswolds has been Robert Thornton which is not surprising considering his link with Alan King.
Indeed, since 2005, he's had nine winners from 42 races (21.43%) and had you stuck a tenner on each, you would be £345 better off today.
Barry Geraghty knows his way around here too with 13 festival winners from 98 races and also shows a decent profit to level stakes.
Interestingly, current man of the moment Tony McCoy has a somewhat more modest record of 20 winners from 204 races and a big loss if blindly backed. It may be worth taking on some of his horses on this year as the sentimental punters are sure to get stuck in.
Spare a thought for poor Sam Thomas with just one festival winner from 50 races - however, when that winner is named Denman, the pain is eased considerably!
