If the system is based on rules that seem sensible and probably related (e.g. not back any horse whose name starts with an 'H' on a Tuesday at courses north of Nottingham etc.) and it's running bad you could just be unlucky at present in which case I'd say keep running for as long as it takes to convince you that your luck has turned or it's simply never going to and the system is duff. That could be 200 bets, 500 bets or more - who knows. You just develop a kinda feeling for these things over time. Can you back-test the system at all?
