Ada's 4 Point Daily Bet Horse Racing Challenge Competition

The game will be played over the duration of 31 days.

Each player starting from DAY 1 receives a betting bank of 100 points.

New players can join the game any time up to DAY 25....they will receive their Betting Bank points as follows:
For example if you join the game on DAY 10 you will start with a Bank of 64 points....(9 days missed @ 4pts (36)....100pts - 36 = 64)
....if you join the game on DAY 17 you will start with a Bank of 36 points.....(16 days missed @ 4pts (64)....100pts - 64 = 36)

The Rules

Each day each player must stake 4pts of their betting bank on single BACK bets to Win, EW or Place only. No LAY or Multiple bets allowed

The 4pts can be split into more than one bet if the player so desires.

For example.....

You could bet 4pts on 1 x selection to win/place.....OR....

You could bet 2pts EW on 1 x selection.....OR....

You could bet 1pt on 4 x selections to win/place.....OR....

You could bet 1pt EW on 2 x selections.....OR....

You could bet 3pts on 1 x selection to win/place & 1pt on 1 x selection to win/place....

......you get the idea?

No fractional point stakes are allowed.......ie....a 1/2pt EW bet is NOT allowed.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO

Each player MUST post (preferably in race order, if posting more than 1 selection)

i) Time-Meeting-Selection-Bet Type: WIN-PLACE-EW (MANDATORY)
ii) Amount staked (whole points only)

FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL VOID YOUR DAY'S BETS

SCORING

ALL successful WIN bets are scored to industry SP odds......ie a 1pt 5/4 winner will earn you 1.25 points profit.
ALL successful PLACE bets are scored to 1/5 industry SP odds.......ie a 1pt 7/2 PLACED selection will earn you 0.7 points profit.
ALL successful EW bets are scored to 1/4 industry SP odds (for 2nd, 3rd, 4th)

ALL Losing bets will be DEDUCTED from your points total, as will failure to post your 4 points worth of bets on any given day.

For Win Place & EW bet payouts.....

1-4 runners.....WIN Only
5-7 runners.....1st pays Win odds; 1st & 2nd PLACE bets pay 1/5 odds; 2nd pays EW 1/4 odds
8-15 runners....1st pays Win odds; 1st, 2nd & 3rd PLACE bets pay 1/5 odds; 2nd & 3rd pay EW 1/4 odds
16+ runners.....1st pays Win odds; 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th PLACE bets pay 1/5 odds; 2nd, 3rd & 4th pay EW 1/4 odds

THE '5' (depending on number of participants) PLAYERS WHO REACH THE END OF DAY 25 WITH MOST POINTS REMAINING QUALIFY FOR THE FINAL 6 DAY KNOCKOUT CHALLENGE. WATCH THIS SPACE FOR DETAILS....AS THIS PART OF THE GAME IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE!

Fancy a go?

OK,

There are 12 of us so far who want to join in.......so DAY 1 (the start) of the game will be Thursday 18th June.

Any other interested players are most welcome to join in......please post.

You must post ALL of your day's bets before the start of your first race.

I am going to adopt the same approach as in Piggy's Joint Effort Game......anybody failing to post on any day will have that day's 4pts stake deducted from their Bank.

Similarly players who fail to stake their full 4pts on any day will have the difference deducted from their Bank.

I'm sorry guys but there will be NO concessions for days off/breaks/holidays during the game as this could put 'everyday' players at a disadvantage.

To keep the game fair everybody must stake 4pts every day.

I think I am going to let the game run without a knockout phase towards the end......so the player with the most points remaining after the 31 days will be declared the winner.

I will post a new 'In Running' Game thread & Player Table early Wednesday afternoon (BST) in readiness for Thursday's start.

Good luck all

Ada - just to check, could we post things like "2pts e/w fav 2.30 Catterick" or whatever? Can we have unnamed favs?

I'm going to reluctantly answer 'No' to this Mat.

I want to keep the job of correlating the results & awarding & deducting points as simple as possible & least time consuming by keeping any cross-referencing to an absolute minimum, to hopefully reduce the number of errors I may make along the way........so I'm going to have to insist that each bet contains....
the race time,
the track,
the horse's name (or at the very least it's card number),
the bet type,
the bet stake

Sorry Mat...

That's cool, seriously. I was asking on the off chance as well as to clarify the situation before it could occur. Best we all know the rules before we get going. Thanks for clearing that one up. If I think of any other potential contentious issues I'll let you know :thumbs

Another thought Ada - what about NRs? If we pick a non-runner and don't post alternative selections do we lose 4pts for the day still?

Another thought Ada - what about NRs? If we pick a non-runner and don't post alternative selections do we lose 4pts for the day still?

I'd been thinking about how to deal with this before you posted.....(I knew you would :)), & how I could make this situation as easy as possible for me (in running the game) and also as fair as possible for everyone playing.

I think that the only way I can play this fairly is to let players (if they want to) post an alternative secondary selection along with each primary bet, to allow for the primary bet being a non-runner.

The RULE that will have to be adhered to in this scenario is that the same bet type & bet stake will apply to both primary & secondary selections to prevent the 4pt daily overall stake(s) becoming both complicated & compromised.

If players choose to post only 1 selection in a bet, & it turns out to be a non-runner.....then the bet stake will be deducted from their Bank.

If you choose to stake your full 4pts on a single selection & it becomes a non-runner, & you haven't nominated a secondary choice then you will have 4pts deducted from your Bank.

If you split your 4pt stake over more than 1 selection, then obviously, if any selection becomes a non-runner you will only lose the point(s) staked for that particular bet, unless you have posted a secondary choice to cover the N/R possibility

Cheers Mat.....a very valid point....thanks for that.....going to have to amend the RULES a bit......& with my track record of explaining rules simply, it'll be easier reading and understanding WAR & PEACE in 24 hours than grasping the rules to this game!!!!!!! :omg:

PLAYERS PLEASE NOTE:

I am going to run the game from the KILLER forum as I feel it would be unfair to 'hog' the Pub Trivia forum for so long with an inappropriate theme....

....so watch out for the appearance of a "4 Point Daily Bet Challenge - In Running" thread in the KILLER forum on Wednesday
