HOW TO POST YOUR SELECTIONS

You may by all means copy & paste each match & bet type plus add your stake to constitute each bet.......OR....

You will notice that each match is prefixed by a letter A - O......& each bet type is prefixed by a number 1 - 5.

So you could structure your entries as follows:

A4) -1 (10pts)
E1) Over (5pts) B
I3) DH (5pts)
K2) A (15pts)
N5) 2-1 (15pts)

If a 'B' or 'Banker' is added to a bet, then, quite obviously a Banker bet is being placed.

Ultimately, the choice is yours......but be warned.....if you use the shorthand method, please be accurate when you post, as mistakes will not be rectified after 2.45pm Saturday.

Please make sure you refer to the RULES thread for clarification.

Please post your selections for WEEK 3 here, by no later than 2.45pm BST Saturday 29th August.

Good Luck

Hi John,
Thanks for the positive feedback :thumbs

In answer to your question......
Thankfully you guys are posting your entries throughout the whole week rather than all on 1 or 2 days, so this makes the transposition of the entries from forum to spreadsheet a little less time consuming, & also (in my opinion) prevents me from becoming mesmerised by all the numbers & letters & making more errors than maybe I would normally.

That raises the question of whether any of you would spot a mistake if I made one.
I do cross-check the forum info with my spreadsheets as I enter the data, & also check them all again on Saturday afternoons before the matches kick-off.

In that respect I am confident I have made no errors inputting the data so far (he says!!).
All the number crunching is done by Excel, & the sums all add up so far, so will remain accurate for the remainder of the game.

So, all in all, yes, it is a bit time consuming & the pressure not to make mistakes is there, but if people are enjoying playing the game, then that makes it all worthwhile as far as I'm concerned.

My only concern is that the thread layout & the format I've suggested you post your entries, doesn't really lend itself to provoking any in-running banter among the players (apart from yourself, John) & certainly wouldn't attract any future potential participants, as it doesn't make easy/interesting reading, being almost entirely made up of sets of 'meaningless' numbers & letters (to the outside eye).

I'm never confident Johnny :D. I just think if by a miracle it comes off, it will give my bank a big boost, but I know it is a real longshot.

Hi Ada, thanks for the detailed response.

Not meaning to start on a negative, but you're right with what you say about a series of numbers and letters not really being a conversation/banter starter to an outsider's eye. I think that will change though, as the game goes on. I've forgotten how many weeks the game is to run for, but I imagine towards the later stages it will make interesting conversation particularly, or solely, for those involved.

On a positive note I'm pleased you're finding it fairly straightforward administratively to run, and the fact that players are posting their selections throughout the week must make things an awful lot easier time-wise.

Plus I trust your accuracy Ada, I think everyone places trust in you, otherwise they would not play. Whilst human errors are sometimes inevitable, the fact that you double/triple check the cross-referencing mean that any errors will be seldom made.

In terms of the layout, I'm not even sure that I like to post it in the abbreviated format. Obviously from a readability format it's nicer to actually read the selection using words, as opposed to codes... so I may opt for the other method from now on. It's easier to make a mistake using the shorter method too, which I almost did last week.

Anyway, I'll stop waffling! Don't want you having to scroll up and down the thread too much come 5pm Saturday. Glad it's not too difficult to run though, and sounds like you're clued up with Excel in terms of automating as much as possible with it. :thumbs

Maybe a seperate thread would help start a bit of banter on the game? Ada's Football prediction banter pit thread or something like that, rather then clogging up the selections thread?
