I signed up to hide-the-ip.com activated the service after paying money for it and just had a go at trying it out, I thought that I would try an american IP address and it shows my new ip as in USA.
However when I go on a website that shows my isp it still says that im in the uk, plus I managed to put a bet on when I should have been blocked by betfair as it should have thought I was in the usa,
Is there anything I am doing wrong? ?

3 Types of proxy exist, to hide the change you need to select the ELITE proxy, the two below that will still show your actual country of origin but change the IP.

Done that, but my isp is apparently still in the uk.

Which IP checker are you using? Try this one http://visualroute.visualware.com/
You have ONLY Elite ticked?

It must be my laptop, I tried it on my fathers laptop and it blocks the isp on his one, any idea why it isnt working on mine?
Im out the country in 4 days so I really could do with this working on my laptop

Try using HTIP's internal browser and see what you get, if that shows USA then it is your other browser.

I have tried using it on bothe firefox and internet explorer, neither of which works, it just always comes back and tells me my actual isp, I might be a bit thick here but I cant seem to find any kind of internal browser for htip.
There must be a rogue setting on my computer thats stopping it from working properly, but I havnt got a clue what that setting is.

Maybe the new V3 doesn't have the internal browser.
Contact the HTIP support they are usually pretty helpful.
Make sure the software has FULL access via the firewall, as that can cause issues, in fact try it with the firewall off, that can confirm if it is firewall related or not.

thanks for the tips keith, I got it working but I have to restart the computer and open htip before windows and other aps have fully loaded so something must be affcting it but at least I can get it working, the only thing that concerns me is the country that I need it for completely Blocks betfair, well the proxy that hmip uses in blocks the site from even displaying when I experimented with appearing to be from there, so im just hoping that it will work there.
for countries such as the usa it displays the page fine but you obviously can't place a bet unless the ip is hidden - so its a concern if it will work for me in chile.

When you're in Chile, you set the location as UK, on an Elite proxy. No matter where you are in the world your computer is in the UK.
Just set it to UK, and access Betfair.
