I am going to select horses that I consider to be a fair price after doing some research on a number of things which may work out in my favour :thumbs

Well done FR,you have made a great start to the challenge.I am intrigued by your staking, could you comment?.

frontrunner
3rd May 2010, 12:37
Of a course I can speak Mick the wife's just given me her permission :D

The staking as you can see varies a little. What I have tried to do is try & stake to win various amounts. Yesterdays selection was staked to win £55 hence the stake of £40 @ 11/8. My fair price for RAWNAQ was 5/4.

If a selection loses then the next stake will be be based on recouping that loss plus a profit that is why one of my bets was £150. This £1,000 Challenge is just a bit of fun but I do put a lot of time & effort in as you probably know by now reading my posts that I do have my moments for picking the odd winner or two :thumbs

Cheers,FR it sounds like you are using a form of retrieve staking, that's interesting as years ago it used to be in vogue, but i have not seen it mentioned for a long time.
As you say the challenge is a bit of fun,but racing appears to be full of aftertimers, and i admire anyone who puts thier selections up before the result is known.Best wishes for continued profits.

You are very welcome FR,i think it is a good thing to specialise, and your choice of Maidens is interesting for myself as i have never looked deeply into these races. If you felt able starting a thread on betting in Maiden races could make for some interesting posts.

good luck with this thread fr,but i think you have made a small mistake when submariner won. you staked £150 @ 11/8 which would have won £206.you have added the stake to the profit which works out at £356 so instead of the balance being £1,190.26 it would have been £1040.26

Can I take this over? Like the title & shame to lose a thread?

But while I'm supposed to be concentrating on h'caps I often see things worth a go in maiden races & while I do like H Cecil first time out I think his runner in the first at Nottingham is a little short & would have to be something pretty special to turn over:

Minal 10 W

Godspot
31st May 2011, 14:36
Close yesterday but another 60 down to 800 -

Might have to ditch this little system & revert to the figures - coming soon anyway but another poor/weak looking qualifier today:

4.15 Leic Universal 30 W

Godspot
1st June 2011, 15:42
No sign of that one - down to 770 - tragic!

Technically speaking - Right Result in the first/6.40 @ Ripon is a qualifier but e's too short for my liking - unless he drifts to 2/1 'ish I won't be interested - I read something yesterday which explains why I wont be bothering:

"If you are willing to accept missing the occasional short-priced winner, you will never have to suffer the pain of another short-priced loser".

Unknown?

Godspot
