I've heard good things about 'Burrrn'. It's old software but I believe it works with Vista and should work with Win7 as well if needed. Best of all it's free. I have never used it myself so just going on what i've heard/read.

Also, another option if you want to use nero is to download a flac plugin for nero. A quick google should point you in the right direction here as it may depend on what version of nero you have.

You might be able to accomplish this if you install http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_codec_pack.htm

The freebie will encode/decode most file types and can be used by most applications.

foobar 2000 is what I use - you need to use it to convert to mp3 first though.. the latest release I think you need to pay for, but I have an earlier pre release version that works perfectly..

Try this - you may need to install a couple of extra plugins from the foobar site.. it's so long ago I installed it can't remember, but it's straightforward to use. The only slight downside is that Flac is lossless - it's exactly CD quality, but compressed, whereas converting to mp3 will of course lose a wee bit of quality, but do you really notice?
