    out of memory

    i have 2 programms open and when i try to open another it gives a message run time error out of memory, how do i get more??

    Can i turn something off in the background,

    Probably just a bug in the program, how much memory have you got, and what is your OS?

    256 MB RAM

    The program works ok if i shut one of the others down.

    It does not matter how slowly you go, so long as you do not stop.

    RAM is very cheap 256MB for about £15, but you need to make sure it's the same speed as what you have now, or buy a new computer box for £200.
