Not really sure what you mean here Ada...
Say for example, I moved GLYN higher up in my list, it would only be in order to minimise reduction points on his "true" eviction position, yet I would have to compensate for this with whoever I chose to move into Glyn's now vacant position... so surely, unless moving a housemate resulted in me gaining, say, X number of points (if I did guess Glyn's new eviction position correctly, that is), I would actually have the same amount of points as I would have had anyway, had I not moved them around at all?
Does that make sense?
Maybe I'm reading into something that isn't there and creating a scenario for myself that doesn't actually exist.

Hi John,
Thanks for replying so quickly before I make an idiot of myself.
My thinking is...
You can move 2 HM's in your list, to hopefully reduce your points loss after the next eviction.
So... I'm leaving 12 places in the list table from hereon in (unless BB bring in MORE people)
You can either directly swap 2 HM's ,to get one of which you think may be evicted next, nearer the next eviction position, to reduce your points loss.
OR..
Populate a gap created (by Nikki in this case) by another HM who you think you have too close to the next eviction position & maybe losing you more points than necessary, AND then moving another HM into the empty place you have just created.
I'm making this sound hugely complicated aren't I ....!!!!!
I know what I mean, I'm just rubbish at trying to get it across
Ada.

I think I get what you mean Ada, so thanks for taking the time to post your explanation. :)
I was just curious as to whether there was more to it than minimising points loss, but after some thought, and after reading your post, it is clear that the moving of housemates can only potentially minimise point loss (or in fact, gain points, depending on whether housemates are moved to any correct positions).
Thanks for taking the time to explain and clear things up. :)

Thanks John,
I was worried that I was talking more gobbledegook than normal.
Hopefully I' m going to use this 'moving 2 HM's' ploy over the next few weeks.
If you've understood my ramblings, then hopefully everyone else will.
You're winning the BB game at the mo, anyway, & I get the idea you don't even watch it!!!!!!!!!
Well done to you....
I can only apologise that the prize money isn't probably worth the effort you've put in to this, if you are the overall winner.
Here's hoping you have a go at the next eSafe Game as well.
Regards
Ada.

No worries Ada, thanks again.
I watch it on and off - to be honest I am a bit put off by this year's because Channel 4 have made a bit of a balls up of it, that's why they decided a second house was a good idea, and as it turns out, many and myself included disagree..... if they kept things simple like last year and all the previous years then I would take a lot more interest.
You're right in saying that the prize money probably isn't worth the effort I put in though! It's true, I have to admit. Having said this, I'd still like to take the opportunity once again to thank you for running the competition... possibly now this is being done through gritted teeth, by yourself, although by the looks of things you are continuing to run it for the good of the forum and its members, and that's what counts. :)
Oh, and your ramblings are crystal clear!

UPDATE 21st JULY 12:45 - FRIDAY'S EVICTION
For your information:
11 HM's left so, depending on whether Jayne or Richard is evicted tonight, points will be added /deducted depending on where you have them positioned in your list, in relation to 11th place.
So...
If Jayne goes then John & MarcusMel will be the only players to gain 5pts (for correctly having Jayne positioned in 11th place in their lists).
The rest of you will have points deducted, the amount of which depends on where you have Jayne in your lists in relation to 11th place.
If Richard goes, none of you have him in 11th place so you will ALL LOSE points, the amount of which depends on where you have Richard in your lists in relation to 11th place.
Good Luck
Ada.

UPDATE 21st JULY 23:50
Please see first post for current table updates.
DOUBLE EVICTION DUE NEXT FRIDAY 28th JULY
(Rumour has it that the remaining 10 HM's are going to be paired together over the coming week, so, if this is true, then your new list choices may have to reflect this scenario).
Points will therefore be awarded/deducted for HM's evicted in relation to their places with 10th & 9th position in your list.
So...
OPTIONS OPEN TO YOU BEFORE NEXT NOMINATIONS:
Between eviction day & the next nominations you can move any 2 of the HM's in your list to new positions:
In the main table, which will continue to contain 12 places, Jayne's name has now been removed, leaving 2 blank positions in your list...
...so...you can either...
1. Directly swap 2 HM's current positions in your list.
2. Move 2 HM's into the now blank positions in your list (recommended to the three of you who now have no HM in 9th position in your list, due to Jayne & Nikki's departures)...or...
3. Leave your list unchanged.
As the game continues (ie more evictions) more gaps will occur in your lists, so increasing the places you can re-position existing HM's in future weeks.
PLEASE EMAIL, PM or POST the 2 HM's positions you want to change, stating the new positions you want them to occupy..
Thanks for your continued support.
Ada.

It is the person with the least points at the end who wins isn't it?

To make life a wee bit easier for you Ada, I'll leave my list as it is just now :)

The double eviction this week means that the 2 HM's leaving will occupy 9th & 10th positions in the order of exiting the house...
Sam, Scaaty & Iron Chris...
Just to remind you that you currently have no HM in 9th place in your lists.
If you wish...
The gaps that occur in your lists as HM's leave CAN be filled by moving another HM in your list into the vacant 9th place.
If you leave it blank, then you will not gain any points for correctly nominating who will leave in 9th place.
(This rule applies to all of you, so you can fill any gaps as they are created hopefully to your advantage.)
Ada.

Sorry, Ada, almost forgot about this - if I'm not too late, could you move Spiral into 9th place please and Suzie into 8th.
*** Please do not adjust your mind, there is a fault in reality ***
-
24th July 2006 #118
Scaaty,
I've done that for you....
...but by moving Suzie you now don't have anyone in 10th place in your list.
Is this how you want it?
If not, post who you want in 10th.
Ada.

Ada,
Is it possible to swap Michael for Jennie
and then move all HM's below 5th up a place.
If that ain't allowed, I'll just swap Michael and jennie thanks :)

24th July 2006 #120
Thanks Ada :)
I'm confused now, I thought we could only move two of them ?
If it's allowed, I'll have Michael in 10th place please.

Scaaty & Vegy,
All list changes completed as requested.
And yes Scaaty, you are only supposed to move up to 2 HM's between evictions, but I think the heat's got to me today and I've allowed a little bit of flexibility to creep in.
So...
The same applies to everyone else...
Let me know of any changes you require ASAP.
Bear in mind that any requests sent after nominations that will give you an unfair 'advantage' will have to be declined in the interests of fair play.
Any other requests will be honoured.
Good Luck
Ada.

You're a good sport Ada...
I must say, you deserve heaps of credit for keeping this game afloat
amidst all the changes, comings and goings that BB keep making!
But, although I think I have given up any chance of catching the supreme John,
My aim is now to finish above Mathare! :D
